Could an adventure game very well be the next MK game?

With talk of no MK fighting game being on the way anytime soon, and possibly even on next gen consoles, is it possible that the next step for Mortal Kombat is another Shaolin Monks esque game?

The story ended with a cliffhanger, let's at least admit that. If we wait til 2013 or longer, the story from the last game is going to be long forgotten, besides by those who absolutely despised it like me.lol. Anyway, I believe that it was implied in Sub-Zero's ending that he and Scorpion would team up. Combine that with the fact they have a common enemy in both Quan Chi and the Lin Kuei, then you would have Scorpion and Sub-Zero teaming up. I know Sub-Zero is dead right now, but with a little writing they could easily fix that.

Mix that with the fact that NRS is looking for an employee to work on an adventure game. What I'm saying is could the story of MK9 continue on, not in the next fighting game of the franchise, but possibly a new adventure game such as fire and ice. They would have to change the name of course, maybe MK legacies: Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

Also, it's not hard to find on any MK board people asking for a new MK adventure game.(Yes, I realize it's an MK board, but I could imagine that would also pass over to casuals as well). The MK 4 plot I feel has always been the time to team up Sub-Zero and Scorpion if they are ever going to do it as well.

So anyway, just wondering what you guys were thinking on this subject? Will the plot of MK9 continue on in a new Adventure game or will we be waiting til MKX possibly in 2013 or longer.

Meh, i wish we could have MK10 for the current gen consoles but that is just me. I wouldn't be against a new adventure game as a next game if... Like you said, not too far from now so the despicable MK9 storyline isn't completly forgotten or shoved down or throats again.

The idea of having Sub Zero and Scorpion teaming up in a fire-ice adventure game makes sense. It was brought in interviews by Ed Boon, i guess more than once so why not?

Not interested though. I saw too much of those 2 characters for a while during the last 20 years and wouldn't play as them for heroes. Unless the bosses were exciting younger characters of the franchise and a cool bio or a arcade mode where they would be playable could be added.

So, depending on the plot and modes and extras they could make something decent but i'm not getting my hopes high about a Sub and Scorp adventure game.

Man, I know people are negative on these guys, but you wouldn't play the game just because they(Scorps and Subz) are heading it? Who else would you want to play as for the main character? Raiden? hasn't he screwed enough things up?

Sonya and Jax? We've seen how a game focused around the special forces turned out.

I just think it's time for these two to branch out beyond the fighting game and finally get a game of their own.

We've got Liu Kang and Kung lao already as well. It turned out well, but there's no need for them to go again.

i like to see an adventure in the meanwhile. only do i prefer other chars. than scorpion and sub. (or the good guys) like to see it once from the opposite perspective.about quan chi and shinnok, how they became the deadly alliance.

@Superbnova

Still totally agree with that. And to the above, nope, i don't mind a game about Sub and Scorp considering they're really popular and their fire and ice relation would be garanteed sells i know. But i wouldn't buy, sorry. I like em both. But as i said, if they're gonna go deeper into a story for particular chars soon, anybody different could interest me more. Maybe after 4 or 5 years of caring less about them i'll be happy to re-discover those 2. For now i would love to see a game in the evil's point of view. Other than that, well any character matters more than Sub or Scorp to me but names such as:

-Sonya
-Jax
-Johnny Cage
-Kano

But i'm more into discovering stuff about:

-Nitara
-Shinnok
-Tanya
-Bo Rai Cho
-Kenshi

Raiden screwed things up i agree, and i'm not interested in having him for a hero in an adventure game much more than i am in Sub Zero or Scorpion anymore. I just had enough for the time being. I would still use Scorp and Raiden once in a while in arcade mode but other than that... Meh.

I think a Fire and Ice game with Scorpion and Sub-Zero would be interesting, but I would be even more interested in an adventure game featuring the Deadly Alliance. I've said this numerous times after Shaolin Monks came out.

- game takes place between MK4 and MKDA
- play as Shang Tsung and Quan Chi
- tag team fatalities/multalities (is that what they called multiple fatalities?)
- levels include escaping through the Netherrealm, Kahn's fortress, Shaolin Temples, village of Lei Chen, Dragon King's Temple, etc.
- Scorpion as a reoccurring boss
- final fight is when the heroes storm Shang Tsung's palace

Early on when you are about to assassinate Kahn you fight through his fortress and finally reach him. We'd actually get to see them fight Kahn this time. Then the next level move on to the Shaolin Temples, fight through monks, and then Liu Kang is the boss there.

I see the final fight as a three level boss fight like how MKSM ended. First you'd fight Johnny Cage, Jax, and Sonya. After beating them you fight Kung Lao and Kitana. After them you fight Raiden as the final boss. Then also have some secret boss fights, and by completing some secret objectives, after Raiden you fight Onaga.

Just the idea of getting to play as the sorcerers is very exciting I think. They have a lot of cool powers and potential for a game in this timeline and of course the kicker....it doesn't even have to be completely canon. It can be and it can still work seeing as how the DA really did kill Kahn, Kang, Cage, Jax, Lao, Kitana, and Sonya.

Now this is an adventure game I'd personally love to see explored.
