I really hope the characters are going to look more realistic for next-gen MK. For this generation they opted for a more cartoonish look, not bad but I liked the way they looked like photos in previous MKs for Super nintendo, genesis. If I recall right they used real actors for making characters back in the day and the characters looked pretty realistic for what these systems could do at the time, like photos or something, does someone knows really how they did this.

They used digitized actors. That essentially means they filmed the actors doing every single motion for the character they are portraying. It's time consuming, and that explains all the palette-swaps.

Yeah exactly. I mean the characters in the past three games looked pretty cool at first, but then you start to realize how cartoony they look after a while. I just think they should look more realistic. Hopefully next-gen will make this possible.

No offense. It is pretty realistic. The only ones who could be considered non realistic are the monsters

Haha!! the difference is in the avatar I made you....your current one. That set (sig and avy) still amazes me today everytime I see it btw....

I've seen some of the visual things that's possible and I hope to god we get something like MK2 graphics.

Whether or not they had to use real people in the past. Graphics cards and such should be capable alone. Then just motion cap the moves........effectivly.

I like the visual style they have going right now, and I think MK8 will look more realistic just because it will be next-gen (unless Boon decides to go in a totally different direction). It is so much easier for them to make a game without using digitalization, I doubt we will ever see it again.

I hope so...the current MK games the characters look like they are right out of a comic book. Even some of the stuff that they wear would make one on one combat impossible if not laughable.

My thoughts exactly...I hope they at least use photographed textures for the skins on their models and modify them from there. I also hope that their models will be made of fibers instead of polygons.

They need to use the Unreal Engine 3 while Midway still has the license.
