Capcom Vs Midway??? UPDATED: Or how about Killer Instinct Vs Mortal Kombat?

Imagine a fight between Ryu and Scorpion - fireballs and hellfires, absolute chaos - BUT I reckon it would make a pretty cool game
I know that the fighting engines are radically different but it's not an impossibility to combine the two somehow - Look at Capcom Vs SNK 2, all the SNK fighting games relied on only 4 buttons to attack whereas Streetfighter etc uses 6. They did it though and made a good job of it too.
So what does the Mortal Kombat Kommunity reckon to this far fetched idea??
Please don't start flaming me if you think this is blasphemy - It's just a thought and I'm not alone in being a huge fan of both series of the fighting giants.
Let the posts commence...

I am a massive fan of the Street Fighter, as well as many SNK series's. But I say no to having MK cross over with other series's.
The gameplay, as you admitted is too radically different to make a coherent mix. SNK VS Capcom worked (mostly) because their gameplay styles are similar, and in SNK VS Capcom 2 (the best of the crossovers, the others weren't that great), the real changes were only minor to both styles, in order to make it fit.
Plus I've never been keen on the idea of crossover games anyway. SNK VS Capcom mostly works because as well as gameplay, the settings and theme are quite similar too. MK's world would not fit right in this (I've never liked the Marvel/Capcom crossovers either).
Plus, there's the age old thing of Capcom/SNK/in fact most other companies fans looking down on the MK series as cheap and simplistic (which some MK's have been, but then the're not the only company guilty of this). I myself am a huge fan of SNK, Capcom and MK, but there aren't many like me. I was a mod on a KOF forum, I know how many beat em up fans view MK.

I have to agree with you on the Marvel/Capcom crossovers - They were poor examples of what was potentially a fantastic licence
But I do feel that it's a shame that people still feel that they have to look down on the MK franchise because they still believe that the only reason the series is still going is because of the blood and violence that started it years ago.
What they fail to understand is that MK has an army of followers (as demonstrated on these here pages
) And it's not all about the fatalities, blood and gore - It's the sense of escapism into a whole new universe that Midway have created with strong storylines and background bios to characters (albeit with a few exceptions *coughs* Kobra)
Anyway we're going a bit off topic here, and I'd still like to see Subby kick Ken's arse... Flaming Dragon Punch Vs Ice Projectile....

The Idea is good, but how it would be executed?
Transform the sprites of Street Fighter in Digitalized actors like SF Movie? I dont think so.
Transform the digilitalized MK characters into a colorful sprites world? Would be cool see Scorpion with a lot of frames like SF3?
Or then, should be using Street Fighter EX Models VS MKDA e Deception. All 3D. But the system is very different. See jumps, fighting styles, weapons.
Also, you say Midway, so lets have the characters from Primal Rage, War Gods, Ms Pac-Man...

MK is one of the most bloody game in the world, so it wouldnt be fitting with a street fighter game or other like that. I mean imagine Ryu doing a fatality! LOL! But its a cool idea though.

Hmmm, how about a super powered up fireball that just rips thru the opponent leaving a hole in the middle of his bloody body, then they just collapse onto the floor!? Very MK. Actually thinking about it didn't Hsu Hao have that one in DA?

I'm sort of against crossovers with MK, but if it were made I'd play the Hell out of it!
I drew a couple rough stickfigure-like drawings of Ryu doing like 3 fatalities. One was a hadoken of doom where he shot a fireball that blew Ken's entire torso away only leaving his head and feet. Another was Ryu using his shoryuken uppercut to slice Ken's body in half Kung Lao MK2 style. The last was Ryu doing the hurricane kick or whatever it's called to knock Ken's head off. They looked pretty funny.

I've been thinking about the gameplay aspect and the two engines probably couldn't be combined....
BUT I did come up with a new suggestion... wait for it.....
Killer Instinct Vs Mortal Kombat = KILLER KOMBAT
Now that could really work, what ya reckon?

Fulgore and Jago are amazing characters (Fulgore especailly!)
How about Sabrewolf Versus Kintaro? Now there's a fight!
Whatever happened to Killer Instinct 3
I got a feeling that it's being saved for XBox360 seeing as Microsoft now own Rare!

sabrewulf could kick kintaros ass easily heel just kill him with the hook fatality or throw his bats at them
Eyedol Vs. Goro -- Fulgore Vs. Sektor -- Jago Vs. Liu Kang -- Glacier Vs. Sub-Zero -- Cynder Vs. Scorpion -- Spinal Vs. Shang Tsung (since they can both morphe into other people) -- Kitana Vs. Orchid -- Combo Vs. Jax would all be awesome fights to remember. Doing Ultra's with the KI people and doing Brutalities with the MK people.
Midway vs. Capcom would be cool too. The 3D renders of MK shouldn't be a problem; I mean if they can turn Jill Valentine from 3D to 2D (Resident Evil Jill in Marvel Vs. Capcom2) then they can do it with all the 3D Mk characters with no problems.

Yeah but this thread isn't a tourny thing - It's for people to have their say on the idea - What matches, features would people like to see in a crossover like this?!
(note for mods - this is only a little bump! LOL)
