Now we know that Midway doesn't have a track record for keeping their promises. Just look at MKA. We were promised closure for most of the MK characters. Instead we are left with more WTFs than ever before. The bios only explain their purpose in MKA not what happens to them.

Without proper closure how are they going to explain what happen to the MK characters that supposedly died? Must be a Midway trick to bring them back in the future MKs just in case the new characters don't cut it for the series.

They might suddenly decide, hmm lets continue the story after MKA. I wouldn't be surprised.

Anyway if it means that Frost is coming back... then I'm all for it. Wiping the slate clean is a serious step...Tekken, SoulCalibur, Doa, Virtua Fighter haven't attempted it...will Midway?

What are your thoughts?

I think it just means that they're getting rid of all the crappy characters and beginning a new storyline arc.

i think we should be able to trust them ti wipe the slate clean. I mean, i know they have a uphill battle storyline wise, but othe rthan that everything's been wrapped up. I think they can do it, i sure as hell hope they can. We know they can make great storylines, let's see them use their potential to make a awesome game that delivers on most of its promises. If they don't, well, i'll still be playing it, but i don't think a lot of people on this website will.sad

The reason those games haven't attempted it is because they know all the fan favorites are from the original roster. When Namco tried to get rid of Kazuya, Marshall Law, and Jack in Tekken, why do you think they came back after just one game? Fan complaints, of course. If you lose the fan favorites, the fans go with them. The MK Team knows this too, and Midway wouldn't risk losing their only profitable franchise with such a change.

I'm not saying they won't trim the roster down, but I'm sure we'll definately see the likes of Kung Lao, Reptile, and Raiden in the future.

I used to love the MK storylines, how characters evolved over time like Sub-zero for instance; from Lin Kuei warrior to running away from his cybernatic 'colleagues' to reforming the Lin Kuei and becoming Grand Master himself. However after the Armageddon(endings). I felt like I was handed an 'april fools joke', storyline wise. I still feel that they might make one more MK in the current storyline just to fix this. But you never know.glasses

Knowing us MK fans surely they(Midway) will probably say to hell with starting over! Lets bring back the classics! I seriously wouldn't mind seeing the old ones return just as long as the story is as it once was; Good!

My favorite is already dead, so I couldn't honestly give a fuck who makes it now. I just pray to whatever deity happens to be up there that they decide to stick with a constant roster this time around. Mortal Kombat is supposed to be, in the words of one of MKO's own "the only fighting game with a good plot." Yet the so-called plotless games manage to keep their returning characters fresh game after game, so there's no reason MK can't do likewise.
