Can NRS PLEASE either remap or patch out the run feature????
Can NRS PLEASE either remap or patch out the run feature????
It's seriously crewing up gameplay. I'll play a dash game with an opponent, and when I see them start something and I want to slam the brakes and stop, the character starts running headfirst into whatever move the opponent is doing.
It got rather old about the 3rd or 4th time it happened. Make use of that L button for more than just stance changing, but LEAVE RUN OFF THE BLOCK BUTTON, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE

I feel ya, man. It's stupid that it's the same button as block but I kind of got used to it so I would rather have them remap it than patch it out, it's really cool but having the block button be the run one as well is just dumb as hell.
I really got used to it but just from remembering when I first got the game, I get what you mean and how upsetting/frustrating it is.

I am by no means a high level player, but I have done this quite a few times too. Are you suggesting they take run out completely because its screwing up game play?
I think your latter suggestion is great. I do think it would be better if it was not linked to the block button, but it does (albeit in a frustrating way) add to the difficulty of the game. Considering you cannot stop a dash once it has started anyways, having to wait until your dash is done to hit block just adds to the precision in timing necessary for a good defense.
That said, I would definitely be all for them giving us the option to switch run to not be linked with block.

Doesn't really bother me, I never use Run and very, very rarely do I ever make that error. I see your point though - it would've been better suited to the "Switch stance" button, which is the most useless function in the game.

Yeah I don't really use the Run feature that much, I just dash my ass off to close distance lol I use it sometimes but not really.

It's because if you're dashing in for an attack and see your opponent start up an attack, you can't block until you go stationary. Otherwise, the dash+block = running, which goes against everything you were trying to do.

I tried the back dash option and thought it was the best game mechanic in a long time, then when I realized the forward option had you running head first into your opponent's attacks, I was like "Yeah, this is not good....."

No. Running is tits and the new dash of MKX, to get rid of the run is to have no new game.

Running is awesome. But I do think it would've been more intuitive if they mapped it to dash and hold forward, rather than dash and block. These guys have a hard time not running when they're trying to block, frankly, I have a hard time not blocking when I'm trying to run, lol.
If you want to dash and block, dash, press back and block. They're obviously not going to remap the run, you just have to get used to it. They had this in mind since E3.
EDIT: Actually, I suppose it is possible that they could give the option if enough people complained, but I doubt it.

There is no more dash canceling so if you're trying to dash up and attack you will fuck up and thats on you. Dash blocking is gone as well but to compensate the walk speed of every character is much faster than previous games. Just walk and block. Once you're right outside jump in range you can run and jump in or just run and rush your opponent, run canceling into an attack is easier than people may realize, its instant and smoother than dash canceling into an attack like mk9.
I don't knock anybody for struggling to get use to the run feature tho as it is very different from MK9 and I'm in the same boat myself. Still MKX is not MK9 and if you're trying to play like your still in MK9 you're gonna have a bad time. Its up to the player to adjust.

The Run command is fine. Dont ask for a game to play like another game to accommodate you. You're playing MKX, so stop trying to play MK9.
Handy tip: Stop dashing forward. Period.

This.
Idk, maybe I'm different in that as soon as I heard how the run function would work, I started fiddling with my controller. Thought it would be a hindrance, but running is the best thing to happen to MKX., imo.

So, what you're saying is it was pointless to include this in the first place? Some of us like the rush game, so as not to give the opponent enough wake up time.
