How would you people feel about a familiar character returning in another's body? Or an old character in a new one's body, or vice versa?

There's this idea I've suggested a few times, of Shao Kahn returning in Liu Kang's body, while Liu Kang's own soul is either still in there and trapped, or in the netherrealm along with the other dead heroes.

Shao Kahn could manage to fool everyone into thinking he's Liu Kang for many years. Maybe he could fool Raiden for the next 25 years, despite acting oddly.

One of "Liu Kahn's" variants would see him fight like he did in the past games. This is the variant he'd use in the story mode when pretending to be Liu. Another variant would be reminiscent of Shao Kahn's own gameplay, where he creates a fire lance and kneel in order to throw it, or hit people with a fiery hammer. This is the variant he'd fight with once his secret is out in the story mode.

Another possibility for a body-swapping storyline is the mysterious woman in Jade's MK9 ending, resurrecting and healing Jade's body in order to take it over, while Jade's soul is still in the netherrealm.

I do realize it's been done with Onaga already, but Reptile's body was altered so drastically it might as well have been Onaga's to begin with. Not to mention, it barely mattered that it was Reptile's body that was taken over. I'm talking about a much more subtle kind of body-swapping, where the original's body is perfectly recognizable, and you don't even know until later that someone else is inhabiting it.

I gotta go with...no.

I don't like the idea of one person (probably evil) inhabiting the body of another person.

Too corny imo.

And just because you inhabit another person doesn't mean you immediately become a master impersonator who can replicate the host individual's every mannerism.

Wouldn't make sense.

When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground.

It's fun to speculate about who could possess who. But that's just it. I don't want two character fused into one, that's just not something I'd accept. Having descendants is fine, some kind of fusing is a no go for me.

I would like Nightwolf's ending to be canon. Then we can have a man-beast!

Its not a bad idea honestly, its a better reason as to why Lui would be the "big Bad" rather than him waking up and being pissed.

I would rather see the Jade one though, out of the two. Because the mystery woman is very intriguing and.. and this sounds lame but Jade is my girlfriends favorite character haha. And I like that she took interest in MK9.. bla bla bla anyway..

Subby could also see this happening with Bi-han, but I am still subscribing to the theory that it is an entirely new Sub-Zero. (mostly because ED BOON, have you heard of him?, said there is a sea of sub zero's to answer a question about who subzero was)

Noob could possibly have some trippy things happening to him with soul swapping from the soulnado. Who knows what his fate is. My guess is that he is going to be sitting out until the next game where he comes back in a "woa, where'd he come from moment." He will surely be DLC tho.

Smoke could have a body-swapping sort of thing happen where his body is resurrected by his enenra form and he is by no means the same person as he is fully taken over by his true form, forgetting all humanity despite his human body.

Here are three ways I think Shao Kahn could manage to fool other people, especially Raiden.

1) Liu Kang's soul is still in it's own body, allowing Shao Kahn access to his memories.

2) "Liu Kang's" odd behavior and apparent amnesia is explained as being the result of physical trauma from being fried by Raiden, so the surviving heroes, Liu Kang's fellow monks and Raiden himself try to "help" him "remember".

3) "Liu Kang" manages to convince Sonya and Johnny that Raiden fucked up badly, and that it was his incompetence that led to so many of their comrades dying, and ending up in Quan Chi's possession. He also convinces other kinds of warriors, like Shaolin monks, Lin Kuei, etc, that Raiden is a threat, and pretty much creates his own clan. Leading to a conflict between "Liu Kang's" clan, and warriors who still believe in Raiden.

Anyway, Shao Kahn could do what Liu Kang in his MK9 ending did, and challenge Raiden. He'd win, leaving Shao Kahn to become...the protector of Earth!

I think variations are not about things like you suggest but more about providing more gameplay variety to the fighters like being more defensive, zoning and what not.

I rather have characters stay in their bodies. And I really hope that there's no Kahn in another body and finding out at the end... I just kinda want him to be done for a while.

Eh I'm not a fan of body swapping. In MKX I'd only be okay with it if it was Jade and the lady from her ending or Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Sindel fighting in the ether for control of some vessel because how fucking ridiculous would that be.

If Shao Kahn has to come back in another body let it be Nightwolf.

I want a freaking werewolf or shapeshifter (that isn't shang or somebody else who transforms into other characters) in MK.

And Jade of course, but probably by an unkown new entity or maybe the wife of Argus from Edenian.

I liked the ending in Deadly Alliance where Liu Kang possessed Kano and was probably going to kick Quan Chi's ass, but that would probably be the only exception.
