Beyond Frustrated - XBOX One Help

So today I purchased an XBOX One because I'm so excited for the release of Mortal Kombat X.

I don't consider myself a gamer, but I've been a fan of Mortal Kombat since the 90's. Mortal Kombat is the main reason why I purchase a gaming console.

Now...I plugged in this thing and popped in the game....and apparently...I have to install the game? I've been waiting for over 45 minutes and it's barely at 10%.

What the heck?!?! I just want to play some MK. What is all this drama?

Has anyone else had this problem? :(

I'm so sad. It's late. I work early. Just wanted to play some MKX.

Unfortunately ALL games have to install first. Once it hits a certain percentage it will let you play a small portion of it to pass the time.

Install and then there's a day one patch too I hear.
I will get my copy today and I expect myself to wait a few hours before I can start playing.

It's probably the patch, don't know how fast your internet is, but the patch is like 2GBs, so it might take a while depending on your connection.

I am on PS4 but the only thing I had to install was the day 1 update and you can actually ignore it and just play the game and let it download when you aren't playing, that's what I did :)

Uh oh lol I hope my comment didn't come off as some sort of console war type stuff lol I was just saying if its the day1 update you can put that on hold and play the game without online if you would like :):)

TC welcome to next gen. It doesn't matter what system you got. Both Xbox One and PS4 require games to be install to to the hard drive to play. PS4 has faster install times, but it doesn't matter which system you picked. You would still have to install the game regardless of which next gen system you got.

MS is working to speed this process up. Supposedly the reason Xbox one has slower install times is because MS was forced to changed their initial strategy with the system. You know the one that everyone gave them **** for, about the always online connection.

Yeah this sucks.

Whatever happened to popping in the disc and playing immediately?

This is ridiculous. I haven't had any luck and I'm sad.

It lets me play, but I can only play "Single Fight" using Sub Zero, Kotal Kahn Scorpion and Ermac.

...I just want to play as Mileena already.

Seriously missing the old MK days right now...this is too much drama just to play a game.

Omg I did the same exact thing today! Bought and Xbox one and the game.

I have never played Xbox one before so I was confused as well! Each time I tried to play it while it was installing, it kept freezing. But it seemed to work fine after it finished installing.

Also, I don't know if it's just me or the Xbox one controller is a lot more difficult to play MK. I feel like I press the correct buttons, but I never pull off any of the moves

Yeah xbox controllers are pretty bad for fighting games, I got mk9 on 360 and could not play it, ended up buying a fightstick, and loved it, I have a ps4 now and even though ps controllers are better for fighters, I'm so used to a fightstick I just bought one for the ps4 to use with MKX

Popping a disc into a system and waiting for it to install has nothing to do with the internet.
