And if there was a new character like this, I wouldn't want it to be like Ferra/Torr. More like the character summoning the hawk/tiger/dinosaur/whatever onto the battlefield in his moves/abilities and also with his fatalities/friendships.

I see Ferra Torr being this. Ferra obviously being the tamer and Torr being the beast. So I guess in a way, we kinda do have this?

Your idea for Kai makes no sense since he's a monk. They don't work with animals, they work with speed, auras, combos, which given a good amount of time to think of new stuff, could leave Kai being a very fast-moving fighter with ridiculous combos that would really be awesome to perform.

The only animal thing about them are the names they give off their moves/stances. He doesn't need an animal companion at his side to stray him away from Liu Kang, in which he doesn't even act like.

In my version he doesn't work with animals, the Byakko (white tiger creature from Asian mythology) is merged with his soul much like the Asian Dragon from Liu Kang, which is the same type of monk. It would only appear in some abilities and fatalities. Much like Orchid from killer instinct and her panther run moves.

I would actually not be opposed to that idea. Kai having a spiritual connection to Byakko would explain the white tiger stripes on his body. And it would make for some interesting special moves. Also, Orchid is my favourite KI character, so I wouldn't mind seeing someone in MK being somewhat like her. And it would make Kai more original from the other MK characters.

I played hours with Orchid when I was a kid... Damn I loved that game and woman, and I loved her theme music lol.

The only problem is that the kind of beast tamer the op is talking about is a character that has an animal as a companion, not a character who has their soul merged with animals.

And since Kai doesn't have animal companions, he wouldn't be considered a beast tamer, he would still be considered a monk.

When I think back at these kind of characters, there really aren't alot of them. The first one that comes to mind is Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown. She had a hawk she could send at her opponent or jump up and hang from its talons and fly about until she attacks from it. And an alternate version of her had a wolf instead she could ride on (later becoming her own character called Rera).




And Carl Clover from Blazblue has this wind-up doll that fights by his side and can be ordered to do several things besides Carl himself.



It is an interesting form of playstyle. Ferra/Torr is not exactly like this, but still kinda like it.

I honestly wouldn't mind a beast tamer character if they actually use an animal companion with them. It's not a bad idea. However, I would like for that character be a completely new character than giving that ability to a recurring character.

And the only animals I really want to see being that beast are either birds, bears, cats, or dogs.

... and maybe a kangaroo. You'd be surprised as what they do to their foes when it comes to water. They're deceptive mother fuckers.

I made the mistake of maining Carl in BlazBlue and OOOOH WHEEEE he is difficult to use. You really have to use both Carl and Nirvana at the same time independently, if that makes sense.

Ferra/Torr I think is just controlling the one character and occasionally using Ferra for stuff. You won't have to control both of them separately...together at any point...am I making sense?

Yeah, exactly. As Nakoruru, you give orders to your hawk who then attacks and then goes back on place, ready for the next attack. And while it attacks, you can do your own thing. Kinda like Ferra/Torr. Where as Carl Clover, you are controlling two independent characters.
