Yes, I know Baraka's a NPC, and that the only chance of him being playable is DLC (or hacking, but that doesn't really beat the real thing). So let's see how we could make Baraka work as a playable character, if he ends up as DLC. I've read that variations were an apparent issue for his gameplay. Anyway...

Tarkatan general: I'd make that his most recognizable variant, where he fights largely as he did in the past.

Spark: a zoner variant with variations of his projectile attack. I got the idea from his MK:SM boss fight where he fired various sparks from his blade.

Berserker: Baraka in a frienzied state. Increases both his speed and power, and delivers savagely powerful attacks. A strictly close-range variant.

So was it that hard for them to come up with three variations for Baraka? Hell, were variations even an issue at all? I think people exagerate how drastically different the variations make the characters. I saw Goro use plenty of the same moves thoughout all his variants.

Who told you that variations were an issue for Baraka?

Perhaps they just wanted him to sit this one out.

Like with Rain, characters like Baraka & Sindel will pop up as DLC by August if there is a big enough outcry for them. I'm sure the team would rather give us them over creating new characters from scratch.

Since Tanya is in the story and they decided to make her DLC, good chance future DLC are ones who appear in the story. Hoping for Baraka and Fujin.
Variations is far from an issue, regardless of what some idiot fans try to have you believe. NRS has never valued Baraka so little chance he's future DLC though.
