Am I the only one who thinks it's rather a small amount for a game this huge?!

Could we be surprise and have more than 13 in the final build?

Maybe there will be a few DLC arenas.

I agree it's a little underwhelming, but still. The mind boggling details that each one of them have...gorgeous. Not only that, but "12-14" music clips for each arena, as well as different tracks for every round.

At least they're not plain Jane, and I'd prefer quality over quantity. Like the unnecessary multiple variations for each stage in MK9.

No, there's no there's 13 arenas, I refuse to believe that thats the final number.

Did you see that when they brought up the options menu during training, the text 'Option' was floating over the text behind it making it impossible to read.

its not a finished build.

Yeah, I got worrying too when I saw them selecting stages. 13 stages aren't really enough. And I'm also worrying about stage fatality's. We haven't seen a single one yet. Not even a Pit stage. This may go into a new generation of MK, but MK just needs a Pit stage.

Every stream it seems like all they play is the blange level. Very sick of it already and I haven't touched the game yet.....hope we see more than just 13 levels. A game that spans 25 years should have way more than that.

I need a 'Mileena's throneroom' or 'Mileena's torture chamber' arena.

We have. Dead Woods, Outworld Marketplace, Refugee Camp, Lin Kuei Temple, Raiden's Sky Temple, The Kove, White Lotus Outside, Interior White Lotus Area, Red Evil White Lotus Stage from story trailer, Kotal Konstruction, City Ruins, City Ruins v2, Brotherhood of Shadows place, Kuatan Jungle, Special Forces Training Zone, Krossroads, So if you don't count different versions: That's 14 stages for sure.

Meh, i'm fine with 13 arenas. If there was more, it could've been like MK9. Stages with a day and night cycle.

It's a surprisingly low number, but if you think about it...

Injustice had, what, 15? Sure, MK9 had near 30, but they were almost all remade stages. MKX has stages that are completely new, so they require more development time. Plus the stages are far more detailed than ever before, apparently include different variants (night/day, etc.), and, of course, contain stage interactables. So I can see why there would be only 13 (12 if you don't count the training stage), but it's really odd to think how they can make the story mode work with so little.

Shaolin "inside" and "outside" are the same stage.

There are currently 13 confirmed stages, which matches up with the amount seen in the latest build of the select screen.

Dead Woods
The Kove
Outworld Marketplace
Kuatan Jungle
Refugee Kamp
Destroyed City
Krossroads
Training Room
Jinsei Chamber
Lin Kuei Temple
Quan Chi Fortress
Emperor's Courtyard
Shaolin temple (actual name unknown)

I think this is it. Curiously, it fills up the select screen slots exactly and there's no screens/footage of anything else, plus no other stages were mentioned when they scrolled through the stages in the practice mode options menu.

This can't be true. It also means that story mode will be very short and/or there will not be great diversity in locations.

Man, only 13 arenas is beyond disappointing.

It does seem like a small amount but it's only because MK9 had so many. These arenas are stunning so I'm all good with the amount.

In general location terms maybe, but these arenas look to be fully modelled inside and out. We've seen that arenas this time are not just wall to wall places like The Pit in MK9 story mode where they appear through the door one side and exit the other side into the Deadpool. This time the entire location seems to be modelled as we've seen the inside of the chopper flying down the street in the destroyed city, walking up the steps and inside a temple in the Outworld construction arena, the inside and outside of the Shaolin Temple, and we've seen multiple places in the Refugee Kamp including the arena itself, inside a tent and Sonya walking in the entrance/gates from the faction video. The larger, more open plan arenas really expand the story mode this time.

Inb4 people believe there's a secret third row of arenas grin

Don't underestimate how much work goes into remaking older stages vs making new ones. It can be easier to make a new one instead of making sure the old stages still capture that feel of the old ones. Sure you know what to make, but how to make it work? It's quite hard balancing the new vs the nostalgia part.
And accept for some extra coding, balancing and such, I don't think the interactables take that much work to model it vs the ones in MK9. Not counting the obvious leap in detailing that comes with the newest generation.

13 or 14 is kinda low... But if they do have day/night versions of all of them or most of them then that will kind of make up for it... Not to mention each board has interactables and if the game does end up have stage brutalities then it's all good!

Didn't they say that there will be weather factors? If so, those could easily make up for that.

My favorite part of MK9 was the Arenas. Ed said there would be close to the number that MK9 had. If you take out the Day, Night variations there was 22ish

I'm hoping there are 13 unlockable Arenas and you can flip the 13 shown

I miss several things in the arena stuff:

-No ARENA stage: I mean, not a single arena with crowd, you can say there ́s something of that in the special forces stage but I think is not enough, I really really miss that kind of stage in the likes of Shao Khan ́s arena, and those in Shang Tsung island.

I suspect that at least the two last stages remain secret, none of the showed arenas looks like it could be suited for a Final Stage status.

And please... we need some kind of PIT...

13 is a ridiculously low number. Even MKDA and MKD had more stages. I believe MK4 had like 12 stages and it was a painfully rushed game. A huge part of their marketing was about stage interraction and we get less stages than Injustice. Really?!

I don't accept the "quality vs. quantity" argument. The quantity of arenas is directly linked to my quality of fun in the MK series. I don't fancy seeing the same stages over and over again. I literally want to vomit when someone chooses the Kove and that Marketplace!

It's not like I expect 20+ stages, but 15+ would be great. Come on, NRS/WB!

There are so many MKDA-MKD arenas that I'd like to see again. I would pay for a Kombat Arenas Pack! And at least one Pit fatality is a must.
