I swear it's like people haven't heard of marketing. There is no controversy and no point in hiding anything because the truth is inevitable.

NRS has always been secretive, always. They like keeping their cats in bags because they enjoy the speculation and it only happens every so often.

What they've been doing makes perfect sense, come out of the gate strong with new character and a couple of most recognizable returnees, state their thesis: "Next generation of MK". That's a swing hard in one direction.

So now they're drip feeding back to the opposite direction with the classic returnees, not MK9 characters, the characters that are the building blocks for the entire franchise. These are the characters the majority of people want to see and they're who you lead with if you actually want to sell an MK game.

The new shit is coming, just fucking relax. God forbid you see something you don't expect when you buy the game.

Right off the bat, I see a decent pattern, at least between Injustice and MKX:
-E3/game announcement reveals six characters
-Announcement at EVO (Raiden and Nightwing/Cyborg)
-Announcement at Gamescom (Kano and Catwoman)
-Announcement in early October (although Injustice had several)
-A huge period of time with little to no info, from mid-October through December. Injustice did get a reveal in late November, but MKX got more in January.
-The months leading up to release are are very generous (not MK9's March or MKX's February as of this posting - but that could change next week)

What does this mean?

We'll know the majority of the roster before release: it was the case with MK9 and Injustice, and Tacos has stated it will be similar for MKX, so expect only spoilerish/unlockable characters to be kept secret until launch.

Some DLC is announced before the game is out. Likely we'll see some of the Kombat Pack content before release.

No reveals in April for both MK9 and Injustice (unless you count DLC or the game release). This might mean next week and March need to overwhelm us with reveals for MKX, because we might not get anything in April.

29, more like 24 and why do people want to know so much before they get a game is beyond me. If it wasn't for the internet, I would've been perfectly happy maybe buying one magazine in February / March and probably when it was announced to find out what's going on. That way, you would go about your life and you fill out so much when the game is almost there and there's still so much left to find out when you get the game.

I already hate how we know about Goro, brutalities, have seen all variations, X-rays, 1st fatality and for some even the 2nd (Scorpion, Quan Chi, Ermac).
I would've liked Goro to have been kept under wraps since he's in the game even without pre-order now (would've been more honest to all buyers that he's not a pre-order exclusive and a nice surprise). Also, the character reveals themselves I don't mind as showing a part of the fatality, 2-3 minutes of game play, some nice introduction etc. However, the teases by Boon are just too obvious which spoil the character spoiler itself, kind of ironic.

At this point, since brutalities are so obvious, just show one and get that out of the way but after that no more. Just one minor story spoiler and some character reveals is probably going to happen, but no full story spoilers, no game modes explained, no sub-boss and definitely no boss hints (what's the fun in knowing what's at the top of the tower, isn't the fun in finding out as it seems the towers only reveal up to a certain point). They already said they will hint at the boss, but I hate if it becomes overly obvious which is Boon's forte really.

That's some great work by the OP. It all makes sense now. I bet NRS is working overtime trying to figure out how to avoid the "highly" vocal 3d fans. They are probably meeting at length, exhausting every release option they have. Even though they are able to construct a top fighter from start to finish making millions and millions of dollars, they have been stuck at work away from their families stuggling with the release schedule. Those damn "highly" vocal 3d fans could be a deal breaker. MKX confirmed cancelled.

Its already the week of feb 28th and if you count after this upcoming week it actually is 6 weeks till the week of the 14th of april. 8 weeks is 2 months. The game is out in 1 month and 2 weeks.

The roster would have been set in stone a long time ago, well before the game was announced.
I don't think they are bothered by the fans reaction to the roster, they should worry about what really matters, making a tournament level fighter thats full of content and fun to play. Game design is made on paper with artists and producers some stuff makes it into the game some stuff gets left on the editing table.

7 weeks and 3 days to be exact. Count next week as week 1 (Saturday to Saturday until April 11) is 7 weeks, then April 12, 13 & 14 is the three days. Get your math right and check your calender.

I dont count next week as a "week". Its already here basically. I clearly stated if you count after the week that is basically already hear its 6 weeks until the week of the 14th.

I want to know the entire roster. I have to know. It's so fucking irritating how secretive they're being over this shit. Only NRS smh.

Assuming you're not being sarcastic, they can't just dump the entire roster into our laps like that. NRS has to maintain public as well as fanboy interest in the game, as much as it's been a pain in the ass to endure.

Put it this way, Smash bro's took its time to reveal the characters, so why wouldn't MKX or any fighing games do the same? also getting information one by one is great, but if they revealed all the roster, people then will go like "lack of information" because they announced all the fighters. And we are pretty close to the release of the game, so have patience.

I would prefer knowing the entire roster minus secret unlockable characters.

I'd rather have the build up to who they will show next
