i was just on ign.com and saw that SSF4 is going to be in arcades. do you think MK9 will rival this thought and bring the MK franchise back to the arcades...also would you like the idea?

Not sure. Arcades kind of limit what can be done with the controls, and to some extent what can be done with the gameplay.

Arcades are awesome! They're dying out fast here in the UK though.

If this is the case, perhaps they could release a beta that doesn't have the full workings of what will be on the console version. I assume that's what would have been done with arcade games in the past.

Will there be an MK9 arcade? Highly unlikely. The last four games didn't get one so why should this game. Secondly arcades aren't big money makers in the u.s., and Warner Bros. is a U.S. company. The only country that seems to be big with arcades is Japan, and I don't think MK is big over there.

Do I want there to be an arcade? It wouldn't hurt me personally, but why would you want there to be an arcade version? You have to keep pumping in quarters to get good. Not to mention there is a lack of content with arcades. I rather just play the game at home. Does putting the same game in a box with a joy stick and buttons really make it better? No not for me anyways.

Arcades are only popular in Japan at the moment so it seems unlikely

While going to the Arcades to play MK1, MK2, MK3, and MK4 were some of the greatest times of my life, I am an adult now and wouldn't find much joy in going to one when I could easily just sit in the comfort of my home and play without spending countless quarters.

But everyone is right as well in saying, arcades are virtually dead here. Japan is the only place this would flourish and there just isn't a big enough market for MK over there.

Also, if a console game is 60$, that means 240 quarters.
I'm pretty sure I put a LOT more than 240 quarters in arcarde versions of the first 4 MKs...
With the economic status actually, I'd rather put 60$ and play as much as I like, sitting in my couch, not having to wait for the arcade machine to be free, without the incessant loud noise of the arcade room...

Consoles are the way to go...
However, in arcade rooms, I met a lot of friends I still see 20 years later ...

I was thinking that, I only see them in bowling alleys and theme parks now. There are like no places just devoted to arcade games anymore.

I would like MK to be in arcades so people actually realise MK still exists.

I loved playing MK in the arcades, BUT when you think about the logic of it, you'll probably spend as much money playing the arcade as you would to just own it for the home systems.

I'd love to see MK return to the arcades, but since consoles have got just as good if not better than arcade quality, and the fact that you can get interaction with other players online the arcades time is pretty much history.

If they did make an arcade version, I have no idea where I'd play it. Not a lot of arcades survived the last 5 years here in South Texas.

I would never say I'm against the idea, but at a 50 cent rate per play on top of the base price of the console game, I just don't know. As others have said, the incentive is not as strong. In the past, the arcade versions had the benefit of better graphics, sound, and a competitive scene. None of that really factors in anymore.

I was 14-16 years old during my arcade prime; I played arcade games to get out of the house. Now that I'm a working adult, I bust veins trying to get back TO my house. Having to get in my car and drive out to play video games... just the idea makes me tired.

MK9 which is going to be called simply "Mortal Kombat" will not go to Arcades.

I personally would love to get MK9 on arcade, as it would mean the gameplay and controls are more the arcade style of the Klassic MKs. I also wouldn't go to arcade to play it, Id just purchase a Dedicated MK9 arcade and put it in my gameroom at my house next to my Dedicated MK1, MK2, UMK3 and MK4.

And like someone else said above me, It would be nice to see a NEW MK title in arcades to let everyone else know MK is still around. But I dont think it would do well since it seems that if the machine doesn't spit out tickets kids aren't going to play it.

But i do think a MK Pinball machine would do good as Stern Pinball still makes PInball machines and the ones around here do great.

yeah that would be nice if arcades was still relevant. online and consoles took over badly.
