I loved the E3 trailer. I like the dark and gritty feeling like they had in MK2011, I like the new characters and the Fatalities look more brutal then ever before...
but..
There's no visible battle damage in the trailer. You can see this clearly at the Fatalities, where the outfits look like new.
In MK2011, this is what gave the most brutal feeling for me.
Seeing people with destroyed eye sockets, skin loose from arms and faces.
Anyone thinks this will be changed later?

Yeah this is just an e3 build, there's no way they're going to release the finished game without battle damage.

I'd like it toned down from MK2011 to be frank. That started to look like everyone's fist and feet were composed of razor blades

Yeah, the characters looked pretty dumb at the end of a match in MK9. Everybody always had one giant bugeye 'cause somehow their eyelid got torn off. Even Robo-Cyrax.

This is exactly the way I feel.

They did have battle damage at MK9's E3 build.
Though yeah, the battle damage from MK9 was a bit much.

Isn't that pretty much what you would look like when fighting with (ice) swords, knives, razorblades coming from chests, bombs, hats with razor sharp edges, harpoons, claws etc.?
I mean, there are a lot of weapons on most of the characters that would justify that battle damage easily (apart from all the fireballs and magic present).

I definitely hope we get LESS battle damage than in MK9. In practice mode shit just got SILLY...

Considering that these people can casually bend and break steel, or rubies in the case of MK1.... which is corundum, those are probably spot on.
Also I seem to have noticed ice pieces on Subs head, as in forehead, temple when fighting against Scorpion, so some dynamic changes may occur.

hope they have an option to turn it off. looks to clumsy and messing in mk9. mk was never supposed to be totally realistic. that's for games like ucf and fight night people.

Yeah like others have pointed out this is an early build so it's probably not in yet. Gotta say though I count myself among the apparent minority that hated the damage. Just always looked stupid to me.

I really hope they add it but toned down a bit.

I don't mind the damage, but I agree it could be toned down. In some cases it makes sense for some people to be torn to shreds. Not to the degree where some are missing chunks of flesh off their arms, legs, and back.
It should be more real time. When someone is hit with fire, clothes should burn, turn charred. Clothes should be worn out, stained with blood. Skin should be torn from all the falling, getting tossed around, and getting skidded on the ground. For MK9 it made sense, it's a very cartoony style game. The damage fit well, more than when they tried in MKDA and MKD. It was just upgraded in MK9.
This time it should be new and different to fit the game better.

I always thought it was funny how male characters get jacked up but the female characters usually only lose their clothing as they get beat up. Jax loses a freaking nipple and Sonya loses her pants haha. Just silly.
I just realized that there is no body damge like in mk 9 :(
man that realy sucks! It was such a great thing when you battled it out with your friends and you could see that it was not an easy victory cause of al the wounds and costumes that were torn
hope they will still put it in

Watch the video, you can obviously see body damage.

I see it's just more subtle this time. When you see the Fatality performed on Scorpion, you get a good look at all the cuts and tears on his costume. Can't tell if he's got cuts and bruises on his body, since he's completely covered in blood.
I really prefer this battle damage. I always hated the battle damage in MK9. Characters looked like they got into a fight with a freaking Grizzly or Tiger, and got just torn apart. It was way over the top.
I didn't even like the damage in Injustice. Since there were still often moments, where huge chunks of skin were missing, and you could see the entire muscle structure.

I'd like to see the battle damage tone down as well. Some of the looks on characters were way too silly to look at. I get that in a fight with magic flying at you can do some pretty serious things to the body, but eh, I'd rather have the damage look more realistic than silly.

In the Maximilian video one of the guys said D'vorah has an exoskeleton because she is an insect and it breaks apart as the fight goes on. He was real impressed with the amount of detail in the game. Max made a good point by saying it looks to be best looking fight game out there and the videos you will see do it no justice so you won't see how good it looks to notice all the details till you are playing the game yourself.
Plus this is an early build....get hype homies.
