I can't believe anyone is talking about this but, I think animalities may be the re-imagined ...ality in MKX. Yesterday, NetherRealm Studios tweeted a link to a site for fans to purchase fan gear (link) . Okay, so I'm going through the pages of merchandise and on page 2 (link) there is a shirt with the word ''Animality'' going across it. There's no other ...ality type product on any of the three pages, which leads me to think animalities may be the re-imagined ...ality in MKX. What do you guys think?

Brutalities were always my favourite finisher next to the Fatality. They were basically the MK version of the Ultra Combos from KI.

Huh. I know that typeface they're using. It's called Bloodsplatter or something. I used it as a base to make this animated Fatality stamp on deviantArt. Disappointing that the merchandizer here was even lazier with their design than I am. They literally just wrote the word in a readily available blood font and slapped it on a shirt. Unlikely to be official then, or they should have used game graphics.
Also, Ed recently sent a tweet referencing Hara-Kiri, which has always been my vote for a returning finisher.

I believe it BRUTALITY that is returning.
Start off with an Ultra Combo
Then an X-ray
Then end with a Fatality not of there other 2
Scorpions could end with a Toasty

Wait a minute... CafePress? Seriously, NRS? With WB's budget, you went through an everyday print-on-demand service?

I think we'll have both.
My guess is that the returning -ality is the Brutality, while we will see a re-imagined form of the Animality with animal-based stage fatalities. Too many animals in these stages for it not to be for a reason, IMO.
Also, I guess I am in the minority on having liked Hara Kiri's. I wouldn't mind them returning at all.

Hey, you do have a point here, ForrestFoxFan. At first, I was just thinking that they are just selling "general" mk merchandise to simply promote the whole mortal kombat franchise, and not just the game. But, if you notice, they don't have a shirt for "babality" or "friendship". So the "animality" and "brutality" shirts that they have for sale may as well be hints hiding in plain sight.
Since they have been promoting this MK as darker and more sinister in tone, animalities and brutalities fit very well within this atmosphere. And even greater evidence points to stage based animalities, considering the different animals that are spotted in the arenas that have already been revealed. So the merchandise may be unwittingly (or perhaps another sneaky ploy by the netherealm troll masters??) letting the cat out of the bag with the messages its merchandise is releasing.
Also, notice the "toasty" and "its all fun and games until someone loses a spine" shirts, they may indicate the return and reimagined, next generation version of subzero's and scorpion's most iconic fatalities. Hell, they did bring back raiden's classic head pop fatality from MK1. I Wonder what his next fatality is going to be.
Thus, if the merchandise is specifically promoting what the game has, then we have just had confirmations of animalities and brutalities.
Thanks for the heads up ForrestFoxFan.

I've been saying it for months, animalities will return. There's too much visual gruesome potential to pass! !
Not buying the Animality theory due to background animals in SOME of the shown backgrounds. If you get killed by the gator-like creature or snake in the jungle, that would be a "stage fatality". An animality is character-specific. Good concept but I hated the way they turned out in MK3/UMK3.
My bet is brutalities are in.

Brutalities have the best chance overall, since they already tried to do it in the last game. That's quite possibly where each character's "killing Shao Kahn" combo came from; those are very much in the Brutality spirit. I'm leaning toward wanting Hara-Kiri back though, since there isn't a whole lot to distinguish a Brutality from a Fatality, whatever Jax has to say on the subject.

Ummm, of course it is a stage fatality. I wasn't saying it wouldn't be. It's a way of paying homage to Animalities, is what I am saying.
Ummmmmmmm...so what is your take on how this re-imagined animality/stage fatality will work? Animal-based finisher on each stage? Unlikely. My original point is that this stage animality idea has come up before and I'm not buying it. Special Forces stage probably won't support an animal finisher. The Cove? It seems likely we will get something animal-based as a finisher in the Jungle. I think saying this is pointing toward a new type of Animality is a bii stretch. IMO.

Well I simply disagree. And I'm not saying every stage in the game will have an animal-based stage fatality...but I do think many will.
It's just too odd that so many of the stages feature creatures/animals for there not to be more to it.
And The Cove? Dude, that's easy. A shark, a giant octopus...hell maybe even a mythical sea monster. Lots of possibilities.
Animalities aren't my first choice. The were always over the top and never made sense to me. But if the rumors I/We heard are true about the Animalities happening with Stage animals (i.e- Snow Forrest- Had Wolves, Jungle- Had Crocs and Snakes & Outworld Market- had Tigore and other beast)
Im still hoping we get Brutalities!
