This idea, I have had for a while. So, I figured I would go ahead and post about it. The game would be called Mortal Kombat Rebirth. No, its not a remake of the original, as the name may imply, but instead its a Mortal Kombat game with the same basic story as the original. So, here it goes.

Story: Shao Kahn had been defeated, as well as all his minions and armies. However, the evil sorceror Shang Tsung was able to narrowly survive death, but was banished to live in the Netherrealm by the Elder Gods. Powerless, Shang Tsung had no way of escaping the realm of hell, until he met a warrior who he had not seen for a long time. Shang Tsung made an alliance with the ninja spectre Scorpion and agreed to help Scorpion become cured of his curse in exchange for a way out of the Netherrealm. Scorpion helped Shang Tsung, and together, they returned to Earthrealm.

Once on Earth, Shang Tsung devises a plan. He would sail his ship around the world and lure strong and worthy warriors to his island as he did long ago. Once there, the sourceror would use his own warriors to kill those of Earth, and consume enough souls to take over the realm.

CHARACTERS

-Scorpion-
In order to be cured of his curse, Scorpion allies himself with Shang Tsung and helps the sorceror escape from the Netherrealm. He also vows to help Tsung regain his power through the tournament.

-Smoke-
Eager to become human once again, Smoke is bribed by the sorceror Shang Tsung to work for him, in turn for his human life back. Without question, Smoke vows his alligance to Shang Tsung.

-Sub-Zero-
Through the Great Battle, many of the Lin Kuei turned on their grandmaster Sub-Zero. Those who chose not to turn were killed by those who did, and soon enough the clan fell under its old grandmaster. The Lin Kuei were once again deadly assasigns, and they would stop at nothing to complete their original task. It would be up to Sub-Zero himself to make sure the new Lin Kuei would not succeed in the tournament.

?Unknown?
This warrior's intentions, clan, and name are unknown, hence the name he now goes by in the tournament. He is seldom seen in battle, but has apparently killed many who were in the way of his mission.
(Unknown looks like a ninja with a jacket on, a yellow ninja hood, and green pants. Got the idea from a G.I.Joe toy)

-Jax-
nothing yet (loses the metal arms for this game)

-Sonya-
nothing yet (will resemble her MK1 look, also having her MK1 winning pose)

-Reptile-
Reptile was captured and taken in by the Lin Kuei clan after he transformed back into his more human-looking form. With the clan not knowing he wasnt human, they decided to go ahead and use him for their newest cybornetic armor. In the middle of the process, however, Reptile went crazy and tore his way out of the machine, causing an explosion. Now, Reptile is left with a broken shell of a cyborg around him, that of which is actually keeping the Raptor alive.

There are some more important characters, but this is mainly what the story is about.

I think you should add many more chracters, including Johnny Cage and Cyrax.

Sonya is terrible looking in MK1.

The name should be Mortal Kombat: Genesis.

Unknown is kind of a weird name. I'm sure you could think of something more original.

I love the idea of Reptile being half-cyborg.

Well believe it or not, I did actually have it called Mortal Kombat Genesis, until i posted this thread. I decided to change it to rebirth because of the Armageddon deal.

---Some more info on the game---

The reason I call the guy Unknown, is because his name isn't supposed to change until the game is beat. He is an unknown character, so I didn't want to give anything away or give him a "personality" until you found out who he was. My intention for Unknown, was to actually be Noob Saibot. After Ashrah fought him in the Netherrealm, the evil was cast from his body and he became "sort of" human-like, but lost most of his powers. Of course, he had none of his Sub-Zero powers, but after watching alot of warriors battle and training with some, he learned alot of extra stuff.
The ideal was, that Unknown went back to the Lin Kuei HQ, which was now ran by a new GM, because my idea for Sub-Zero was that he was beat and the clan was taken back from him. The new GM, is actually the old one, or one of his followers, so Unknown decides to pursue his original mission and assasinate Shang Tsung. In his ending, he was going to return to the HQ and find out who he really was. Then, the GM was going to call him ZERO.

I also wanted to add a special character who I called Nimbus. The idea was to kind of make some truth out of the Nimbus Terrafaux rumor from MK1. He was a black skinned guy who wore a ninja outfit.
His story, was that he was supposed to be in the MK1 tournament, but Shang Tsung would not let him compete because he didn't feel Nimbus was worthy. So, he goes to Outworld and trains with many warriors, so the whole time everything is goin on, Nimbus is learning alot of techniques.
By the time this game rolls around, Nimbus wears a ninja-like outfit thats a little more loose. He had even learned how to take the souls of warriors, but had never actually done it.
SO, he returns to this tournament to get revenge on Shang Tsung. In his ending, he killed Shang Tsung and took his soul, but also took in every other soul that was in Shang Tsung. Because of Nimbus' lack of experiance with soul taking, the souls began to start consuming every other soul around. Soon, it got too powerful, and started consuming the souls of everyone in all the realms, and the inward pull even began to merge the realms. Soon, the source of all the realms even went into him, and the so called One Being was reborn. Now, there is only one thing left in the universe.

I know some of this may not be that great of an idea, but it is what I had in mind so I figured I would post it.

I like that idea for Zero.

But Nimbus should just take every soul, and then become the next boss guy. I don't like idea of him being the only thing left in the universe.
