Am I the only person who noticed Shinnok?

In the gameplay trailer performing a fatality, I would have thought it would have been noticed by most everyone but looking it up no one has mentioned him and on news page refers to him as a new blue character that we don't know anything about yet. Pretty sure it is Shinnok, am I wrong because I would have thought more people would recognise him.

Who is he then? I thought it was Shinnok and that made sense but now I have to wonder what he is.

I thought there was a good chance he was a re-imagined Shinnok when I first saw him too and even stated it on a few threads. That theory was squashed pretty quickly though (1 day in fact) when Ed Boon did his demo and announced him as Kotal Khan. I still think he's a god though.
