posted07/11/2007 07:15 AM (UTC)byQueenSindel(TheBitch)I really like aerial combat in armageddon. It's very cool and it puts a nice visual twist to the fighting.
Should it stay for MK8 and after? Or shouldn't it?
I say it should. And some characters should able to stay airborne because of this, like Sindel in MK3, at least temporarily, like Ermac in MKD. I don't know about you guys, but when MK characters float in mid-air, it looks super cool.

Dude this is the second time youve made a thread that ive made before. Ive made the EXACT same thread as this before and ive made the EXACT same thread as your King Jerrod one. Im not saying that youve copied me, its just coincidence.(not sure if that was spelt right lol).
Anways yeah Id like to see it come back with improvements and that each character gets there own combos. None of this universal bullshit. Also I think it would be cool if you could use your weapon in the air and do your special attack in the air aswell.

Well, if you mean the aerial combos, then no. It was horribly done and ended up being one big mess (surprise, surprise...). The ACs (Aerial Cancels), which some of the characters had, made them capable of a lot of damage, thus breaking the game. And overall, it just looked really sloppy.

I wouldn't mind it if it was made more realistically. For example:
You could do a pop-up combo on the ground, then jump up and slam them into the ground with a punch, or stomp on them.
It would make it less cheesy, and more practical.

they should keep it, but make it more refined, and more realistic and less stiff and hard to execute.

True Dat, MK's no DBZ people cannot just float in the air in MK. That looked utterly ridiculous.

Only if the juggles are like UMK3, and not MKD. MKD was so sickening for that.

Well I really hope they keep it because it is one reason why MKA sort off separated MK from mostly every fighting game out there.
Well they say that MK8 will be running on a new engine so hopefully come out great.
I really liked trying to make huge air combos
I actually prefer it to the normal on ground fighting :D
But hopefully MK8 will be great

If you mean ground combat as in something out of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I don't think that's really necessary unless someone has a style like that and universal defense commands are implemented.

I really don't like the way it was designed for MKA.
It looks crappy, too many things don't make sense.
examples:
The kick bounce back up
The stopping mid air to do a combo
If they want to keep the idea, what I would like to see is something closer to a mix of marvel super heroes and the old MK's aerial combat.
Not the same, but have it so you can cancel in to special moves and do short combos, max 3 attacks.
Have several aerial attacks with different properties and effects on the opponent. That would allow for more than one way of doing aerial combos.
Have jump in attacks that are like the ones in DOA and street fighter, so you can do jump in combos. Don't just have the jump kick.
Make it so you can juggle off the jump kick like in the old games.
When doing aerial combos, both characters should be flying through the air, not be stuck in one spot then drop.

K, First of all, I'm not a dude. I'm a girl.
Secondly, I think it's very wierd that I've made 2 threads exactly like ones you've done before. We probably just think alike... I don't know.
And Third of all, I agree with your response. I also want air combat to return but with character-specific combos (I guess we do think alike... lol).

queensindel its alright i have the same problem people misjudge me as a guy as well... just ignore the problem
but getting back to the story, i don't wnat aerial combat to return, it sucked and the combos did little damage even though they were very long. IMO okay IMO... but still i hated it becuase everyone and i mean everyone always block you and im a real good fighter, not to brag or anything, but they still seem to block it every time even the stupid five year old kid who thinks his half dinosaur/ninja/robot KAK can block... its an easy block move...
damn that block move...

i despise aerial kombat.
and im not sure one can pull this off realistically as doing a pop up on a person in the first place seems like it would be kind of difficult [again im not to sure if this is actually possible]

Are you saying aerial combat shouldn't be in MK because it's too unrealistic? Oh you've got to be kidding me.
Most of what MK drives on is unrealistic, over-the-top, impossible fantasies. I mean, since when can humans teleport? Or control natural elements? Or knock other humans' heads off with virtually no effort?
MK has never been realistic, so I don't understand how you can complain about aerial combat when it fits MK's fantasy style perfectly. Plus it adds more versatility to the fighting.

MKA's aerial combat was very sloppily done. The animations aren't fluid and aren't distinct enough. The air cancel breaks the game even more. Overall, aerial combat was broken and not that useful. Also, I find it to be rather unnecessary.
So what if MK isn't realistic? That doesn't mean it should go to the unrealistic levels of the Capcom fighting games.
