I mean, at least make it somewhat believable. You are basically crushing & breaking their insides. A second or two of stumbling or being dazed after being on the receiving end, I'd appreciate.

It's fine in the context of a fighting game. If the X-Ray move that takes away 30% of your life bar would also leave you open for attacks right after it, it would be waaaay too overpowered.
two options:
-accept it. We have people who canc reate concentrated layers of ice out of freezing water vapor to sub-zero temperatures and hard enough to withstand struggle... a thing that would instantly shut down your body, flay you alive when the ice breaks off, or suffocate you by freezing up the air inside your lungs.
Or how about taking ordnance tot he face and walking away from it. Stryker and his grenades? One of such things would kill most people in a 10 meter radius by gibbing them with fragmentation shards. Let alone the blast.
-go with it: allright, lets say an X-ray is a special instant kill maneouvre what is harder to pull off, but then you will have to modify every other thing in game. Stryker will instant kill you with pistol shots, Sektors missiles are lethal. A spear to the torso will incapacitate you.

It's Mortal Kombat. Logic need not apply here.

Why? So you can do more damage on the opponent? Most X-Ray's are already 30%+ Damage. A good combo into one can land close to 45% if not more, at least back in MK9. So 40% damage and then a freebie combo? Yeah, no.
You might as well ask "Why doesn't the X-Ray kill them immediately?".
Gameplay Balance.

By your logic, there should be a one to two second pause after nearly any attack in the game. Majority of the special moves in MK would kill instantly in a believable, real life situation. There doesn't need to be a dazed reaction unless it's a move that allows for a follow-up attack. It's a video game.

The X-Ray's in MK9 were too deadly for a normal human to survive also, that was 4 years ago.

This may make the owner of this thread happy you can do a brutality with the x-ray as seen in Sonya's brutality x-ray.

Well yea, I know its MK, but still
I can't remember in MK9....was their instant visual body damage after an Xray? I'd be perfectly fine with that too.

Yeah some of them are obviously death blows. It's unrealistic to get up after any of that shit honestly but kenshis sword impaling your face? I like the jaw bone and rib ones more.
