I posted this thread over at IGN too, but I don't know if all the same people use this site as well, so I'd like to hear what everyone here thinks too...
What do you think will become of the MK franchise after the release of MK Armageddon?
Since the current MK cast is supposed to be retiring after their appearance in this game, I think the next generation of MK games should elaborate on MK history, for example:
A game telling the story of the war between the gods (when Shinnok was banished to the Netherrealm by Raiden)
This could make an excellent adventure or arena-style fighting game.
Another idea I had was a game about how the tournament changed hands from the Shaolin to Shang Tsung, turning from an honourable (yes that is spelled right, I'm Canadian) fighting contest to a no-holds barred deathmatch.
While still utilizing key characters from the MK we know today, this would present the opportunity to introduce a slew of new and cool characters, and even give us a glimpse of the original Kung Lao, or one of Sub-Zero's ancestors.
The only other way to go with the franchise that I can think of would be to come up with some futuristic Mortal Kombat, and I can't really think of anything else to go along with that, so.......what do you think?

I could see them going into the adventure direction, it's why they sampled shaolin monks.
I think they saw some success from that game and will further there testing.

In my opinion they should make an anniversery collection of all the fighting MK games: MK 1, MK 2, UMK3 with MKtrilogy Jonny Cage as an added charactor, MK Gold, MK Deadly Alliance, MK Deception with Goro and Shao Kahn added to all systems, and finally MK Armaggedon. But they should all be on seperate discs to solve any memmory problems. MK 1-3 should have bonuses like behind the scenes footage and things like that. The 3-D ones should have some fixed gliches.

maybe an rpg kinda like elder scrolls but a adveture game would seem more plausible or they might try to market a collection of mini games i would buy the mini games

Why change it? MK is awosme as it is...They just need to simplify the story again. After this they should go back to the MK of old storyline back to the original tornement...With a new monk.

That is a cool Idea However I would put Mortal Kombat in the Front of that Title. I bet it would be a bit expensive maybe close to 100 buck

I also heard someone mentioned about retiring a handful of Characters. We just might see alot off Characters Killed off in MKA. I'm sure some will stick around.

A good RPG has no such thing as alignment. You should be absolutely free to controll your character and not stuck in archetypes, ala. Morrowind and Fallout.

To my view, many of the characters will die/retire and the few others that will survive (Scorpion and Sub Zero are mentioned to probably survive, according to Ed Boon. But I am not sure whether the information is true yet even though it's quite obvious to many fans that the two most popular characters will not get killed). The One Being is introduced and the plan to combine all realms will fail costing many lives after the final battle (This reminds me of the End of Evangelion movie for some reason). Some questions will be answered and a new generation of Kombat begins (It all depends on the MK team). The new fighters maybe the future ancestors of kombatants we all know and admire or maybe characters with different story backgrounds. If a new generation of new kombatants begin, it 's possible that the game maybe released on future game consoles such as X-Box 360, Nintendo Revolution and PlayStation 3. This is just my prediction of whether this will happen or not.
they should retire most of them but put rain, noob, cyrax, and sektor so they can be vets since they didnt get in that many games. Noob is in alot but you cant play only as him, and sektors only been in 2 with the exception of umk3. Rain is only in 2 and he deserves more time.
