A new Sub-Zero
Let's say we're getting a new Sub-Zero. While some people would obviously be upset, as evidenced by one thread on this board, the fact is, this Sub-Zero, even if new, obviously has a lot in common with the previous two, like the garb, the voice and being a white man. That does leave doubts as to who this Sub-Zero is, for now, but at the same time, it probably lessens the controversy that a new Sub-Zero would inevitably bring (meaning that NRS' is playing it safe).
So, just how controversial would it be if the new Sub-Zero was either a woman (whether it's Frost or a new female Cryomancer), or non-white, or both? Or even a white male one that looks and sounds absolutely nothing like the ones we know? I see no reason why new Cryomancers would all have to look and sound like the brothers, as if they're a bunch of Links, if you know what I mean. As far as I'm concerned, a new Cryomancer doesn't even need the classic ninja garb, except as an alt (and a female one would still look different even when wearing it, anyway).
About Frost, I wonder. If we ever got a new female Cryomancer, would fans prefer her to be called Frost too, pretty much making the women of that species a different category than the men, in that no women can ever inherit the Sub-Zero mantle (or be the only Cryomancer in a MK game). Given how most gamers are male, and how many of them are sexist, I wouldn't be surprised if the Sub-Zero name was considered too prestigious for women.
New Sub-Zeroes can be interesting, but at the same time pointless, if they have to be as similar to the brothers as possible.

If its a new Sub-Zero, its probably not related to the brothers. Its probably a new cryomancer who took up the mantle to avenge the fallen brothers.
He'll probably learn the truth of why they were killed by Scorpion and that, he'll also learn that Quan Chi used Scorpion to kill them for his own purposes.
With Sareena's help of course. The new Sub-Zero will also tell Scorpion the truth of why his family and clan was killed and perhaps they'll team up.

The whole point of the Sub-Zero name is for it to be passed down through family. The new timeline doesn't state that (I know). The old does state it's a family name though.
Sub-Zero is not white either, he's Asian. (Well, half whie/half Asian). I would assume that whoever takes the title would have to resemble the older Sub-Zero's in order to attain the "Sub-Zero is immortal" thing they are going for.

>not related
>took up the mantle anyway to avenge two complete strangers

Okay well..
Maybe he'll learn of the past Sub-Zeroes and the cryomancer legacy.
Wonder if he'll gain the scar.

Let's just agree to not start arguing about Sub-Zero's race. That's a can of worm that we may never be able to close. Regardless of either brothers' race, a black or an hispanic Sub-Zero would definitely be different.

Actually he is White from his moms side and outworld from his dads since hes a cryomancer and the roots come from outworld. The father took the sons to China to train to join the LK.
