I was thinking that, instead of always having to have the MK games be more realistic. Why don't we come up with an MK that had the gameplay look like a drawing.I got my idea from this game. Anyone think this would be good?Heres a link to show how the gameplay would look. Okami.

No.

That wouldn't do anything but piss me off. It would piss me off to the point of undiscovered....pissed-off--ed---ness...

lmaO

btw, I played that game, I thought it was a cool concept but needed more growth....i.e. "needed to be more realistic". I think I played a demo and turned the demo off after like 5-10min..

It's definitely a new idea. Just to through my two cents into it, what would make this next MK the greatest fighting game of all time is that the MK team needs to do what the Twisted Metal team did with Twisted Metal Black. It was realistic, dark, serious. It's perfect in terms of the new direction Boon wants to go with the game. Now for your idea, it's sounds interesting but I don't know if most MK fans would like it. I would but it would need to be some sick ass, gruesome drawings.

Nice idea, and I liked playing Okami, but I would vote against it. I just don't see something like that fitting into an MK game. Edit: Though i think about it now, it would be kind of fun too see the team try something in that direction. But at the moment, I think they need to focus on making MK 8 a solid fighting game with an intriguing story.

I think that the oil painting look is very similar to the style that the Street Fighter games were trying to go for back in the cartoony 16 bit era. As such, I'm not much of a fan. I would say though that maybe as an offshoot series, I'd definitely be down with an MK that had that very asian, oil painting style look to it. Kind of a throw back to the 2D era, but with 2D oil painting graphics that could really look amazing with today's next gen technology. In that sense, I'd be for it. But probably not as a new look for the series itself.

Twisted Metal Black: Man, what an awesome game. That game was so eerie without even trying to be. So grim and dark, and the stories they told were...wow. I don't think we'll ever see a driving game with that kind of character development ever again. It was awesome. My hope though is that MK can go dark and grim in a real sense, and not do it in some sort of contrived way. The stories have to be realistic, the characters have to be cool and even believable.

I'm not saying that MK can't have gods in it anymore or anything like that, but you look at alot of the characters, especially around the MK3 era, and well, let's just say that slapping spandex, bicycle helmets, and what looked like catchers chest protecters on a guy didn't exactly make him look like a cyber ninja. Or bad ass for that matter. If Ed Boon really wants to go down this road, he really needs to do it right in the context of the game world.
