It feels like MK (2011) wasn't 100% completed. It wasn't a way to save time in releasing game. NRS didn't have enough time to add more...blah, blah.

Something missing:

- Some characters didn't have get up animations.

- No stage fatality in Bell Tower. One of the developers said in an interview that there would be a stage fatality in the Bell Tower stage.

- Skarlet had an alternate costume, it has been seen in a video demonstrating an early build of her. I heard a word from Ed Boon or NRS regarding her alternate costume, but Lead Designer, Paulo Garcia said they didn't have enough time to add her alternate outfit on the console versions.

- There was a leaked sound file of MK9's Brutality (announcer's voice), then NRS said they didn't have enough time for that.

List goes on.

7 months? Over half a year? That's not enough. It should be delayed, it would be better if NRS could have more time, that makes us satisfy. We have to wait until like June, or October 2015 for the game.

Did you take into account that the game has been in development for quite some time now? And that after MK9's success they probably have a budget twice as big? Besides, whatever mistakes NRS might have made during production of MK9, I'm pretty sure they won't repeat.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

There's a well known quote when it comes to art, as I am an artist myself:

"Art is never finished, only abandoned." -Leonardo da Vinci

Basically, the game is never going to be "finished". There's a reason there wasn't enough time. There's never going to be enough time, because there's always going to be something they can add. However, there needs to be an end point in place, otherwise it would be never ending.

So I disagree. It will not be delayed, nor should it be. MK9 felt quite solid and packed full of content, as did Injustice.

I would be fine with a delay for a more polished end result.

One dev (Beran or Garcia) said in June or July that the devs were "ahead of schedule" and the game, as others have posted, has most certainly been in development for well over a year.

As blackcyborg mentioned, where do you even draw the line with a game being wholly "finished"?
Even better graphics/textures? A few more modes? A few more finishers?

They could delay MKX to Q1 2016 with all sorts of 'polishing' and people would still find something to bitch about that's not included.

When it comes to fighting games, every day counts. I want the game in competitive hands as soon as possible before Evo so players can start fleshing it out.

The only good reason to delay the game is if it has game-breaking bugs. In that case, I would want a delay. That's about it, though.

Stop comparing MKX to MK9. It is not an accurate comparison. Try Injustice, then we'll talk.

Exactly this. April is a good three months before Evo, its enough time for the top players to work out the major kinks in the game and the Devs to patch it up.

Mr. Kricket emulating his rational namesake here most appropriately. They've been working on MKX for a while now even when developing Injustice.

Whatever they don't finish or don't "get right" they will fix with a patch.

I welcome the release date.

How is that BS?

You don't even know if half of them will be new characters. Boon never stated anywhere that "half" of the roster would be new characters. He's never definitively defined how many new characters will be in MKX.

And if the roster was only 24 characters, with half being new, so what? It's a new generation of MK. To expect a larger ratio of returnees over newbies (barring DLC) is just silly, judging by what we know.

If that's BS to you, then I think you're going to be very disappoint come 4/14/15, if not sooner.

Edit: On topic, I don't think we have to worry about a delay. As others have pointed out, MKX has likely been in development for some time, so NRS will probably have everything ready to go when the time comes. And yeah, patches can easily fix most minor bugs (no more UMK3's to fix bugs and add features grin)

You know that they have always introduce a good number of new characters right?

Anyways, they've been working on this game for a while. The only thing I see this game getting delayed is if there was a very serious bug that needed fixing. I don't think they'd be forgetting something to add within the seven months we have left.

I mean, people bitch all the time that Blizzard delays a lot of their games, but yet figures out later that it was worth the delay. I'm sure most of you would do the exact same thing. Complain that the game gets delayed then several months later understands why they delayed it and start feeling a bit down that you got upset about that.

Its been in development longer than you think. Over a year already for sure. Its coming out in an extremely crowded Spring( Evolve, The Order, The Witcher 3, Battlefield, MGS: Phantom Pain, possibly Arkham Knight) all within a few weeks of each other. However, I do feel like with the huge success that was MK9, it has enough clout to stand out on its own merits. Especially the hardcore fighting fanbase will be craving something.

MK2011 and Injustice both came out in April right? WB probably likes their games out early so they can throw that GOTY edition out at the end of the year. It'll come out sometime in or near the first quarter.

It should only be delayed if it really NEEDS to be delayed. I don't think they would give a set release if they didn't think they could get it completed by that time.

I wholeheartedly disagree for these reasons.

The first time this game was known to be in development was over a year ago in this video.

I can remember that one developer said the game is ahead of schedule so I do not believe the game could be delayed if it is ahead of schedule.

A fighting game is not resource intensive. Only stage and characters are modeled and this small compared to games with levels. We have been seeing older builds of the game so far and the game is progressing as shown with Cassie's face and the quick correction of after glow from Kano's lasar in his fatality.

I expect most of the beta testing phase to balance the characters out rather then bugs and even then these can be patched afterwards. For me there is no eveidence so far that points to this game being delayed.

None of us can say if it is enough or not. Only those who work on the game can. And if they say they are ahead of time and it will be released in 7 months, then hopefully it is done by then.

All we can do is wait and see the results.

I will make this very simple from a business standpoint. There was no official release date until yesterday, at least not released publicly. There is a reason for that. WB has had great success with NRS and they aren't in this to rush production. NRS wouldn't communicate the mission to have MKX ready to go for April shipment unless they were confident in their ability to deliver. This isn't Boon's first rodeo.
