I dislike 2D fighting games a lot. I find them a chore to learn and its not like I haven't tried:
MK 2, MK Trilogy, SFA3, Capcom Vs SNK 2, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, SF2: Anniversary Edition, Guilty Gear XX 2 Reload. Disliked them all.

Strangely though I wouldn't mind a new 2D game really.

To those people who say " well the graphics will be shite." That is not fair on recent 2D games really. Veiwtiful Joe and Sonic Rush springs to mind.

A simple solution would be to package all of the 3d games with a 2d bonus. Just make the gameplay exactly like UMK3, but add the new characters. In today's day and age it would seriously take the programmers about 25 minutes to port the game to a 2D engine. It would make tons of people like myself very happy. I'm a big MK fan, but I simply can't get in to the newer games. They game play is nowhere near what an MK game should be. It's slow, sluggish, fancy-looking crap.

I sold my Armageddon on ebay for $10.

3D engines are not reproachable to 2D. it would be twice as counterpro-ductive than the release of one MKA.

2D fighting games are old and outdated. Take in to mind about King of Fighters, Street Fighter, etc. Those games are losing fan base to new 3D graphic fighting games. Majority of gamers are into the 3D graphics, so it's up to the gaming industry to meet that demand. However, Midway has been updating it's old 2D MK games to the newer systems. Right now MKII will be made to fit the digital standards of the Playstation 3. Midway understands that some people love the old 2D games, so they will make adjustments for those individuals. However 3D is the way of the future, if you fail to adapt to change then you don't sell games. And Capcom has been dealing with this with their 2D fighting games.

2d mk is the only good mk

3d mk is boring... not as fun..

i say FUCK SOCEITY FUCK MAGAZINES FUCK THE MEDIA LETS DO IT ANYWAYS... even tho alot of people dont like 2d as much as 3d ...i say we do it anyways... people need to learn what real good fun is.. not stupid armageddon.. in my own opionion MKA sucked... violence is good an all..but
its not fun anymore...

i hate this new technology of gaming... the 90's were the best..

You're right that's your opinion, but noone gives a damn about what you think kid. It's about majority rule, a small percentile of those who would like a new 2D Mortal Kombat will not get what they want. No sense in ranting and raving about it, you want to play a 2D MK, play the original 3.

Now don't get me wrong, all of the 2D versions of MK were classics. I personally think that once they became 3D they were hot, but not as hot as it was in 2D, but Com'mon you guys, the next MK (MK8) is comming out for systems like the XBox 360 and the PS3. Just think how good the graphics would look, I mean I would love to see that. Fatalities in High-Definition? My God that's Great!grin

I liked the style of the 2D MK games. They used photographs to make their sprites. I think if they followed their own example and made photographs of the actors work as skins for the 3D models, we'd have a lot better quality visuals. As for the gameplay...I think it still feels too 2D (as with most fighting games). I'd like for them to make better use of the 3D field.

Id prefer 2D as 2D MK's were much more enjoyable for me. I always go back and play MK2 and UMK3 (specially now thats its on xbox live). I probably enjoy 2D fighters more because I grew up playing them since the age of 7. From street fighter, samurai shodown, world heroes, and so on.

They should go to 2d. but with 3d mechanics. Like diffrent fighting styles for each character and death traps.
