I'm assuming you haven't been around for the past few months, 'cause this is really old news to most of us.

Lots of stages have Armageddon characters in certain backgrounds. (For instance, the Pit has characters like Reiko and Daegon fighting back there instead of Blaze and Hornbuckle)

They're either easter eggs that have nothing to do with the story, sort of like the Dark Prison stage from MKD, or they're just a placeholder and the finished game will have more appropriate characters in those places. We can't be sure yet.

Of note though is that sometimes Kitana is one of the chained up ones in the arena. She's the only character who's actually in the game that we've seen in a background so far. (Except for, y'know, Shang and Kahn sitting on their thrones of course) Perhaps Kahn locks her up when she turns on him in the MK2 part of the story. Who knows.

As much as i love Tanya i cant see her been playable in this MK and like the guy said before this is very old news mate!

i think as time goes by and kano is shown, maybe Him and Sonya will be back there, unless they are fighting then, Tanya and Kira will appear

I think it's like MK2. Tanya probably won't be playable. I don't even think she's gonna be DLC. Would be weird to have her fighting and chained up in the background as well.

A character has to possibly sell well in order to be a candidate for DLC. Quan Chi is the only one from MK4 who can carry his own weight. DLC characters are most likely going to be bonus forms that won't work as alt costumes (human Sektor, Cyber Smoke) or the definitive post-MK3 characters (Kenshi, Kenshi).

Really? Haven't seen that yet. I hope she's not chained up in the background when she's also fighting in the same stage. That would be lame.

Tanya probably won't be in due to the MKT character limit imposed by Boone.

This is somewhat offtopic, but how come the only characters chained up in the game are female? Kano was also chained in the original MK2.

That's partially why I said an MK4 character pack as opposed to separately. i think Tanya could stand on her own though, she was one of the few newbies of MK4 with a modest fan following, I think Tanya, Quan Chi, and Shinnok would sell well on their own. I can definitely see Kenshi appearing as well, maybe Blaze too (simply because of his role in this time line and Raiden thinking it crucial to deal with Blaze early on maybe?) Who knows.

She's the only other character from MK4 apart from Quan who I'd be okay with making an appearance. We could get to see her working for Kahn as per her MKD Konquest appearance, while secretly being part of the Edenian resistance or something similar, and perhaps see what prompts her to sell out to Quan and Shinnok, setting the stage for their invasion of Edenia in MK4. Would be amusing to see her fighting with the good guys to ensure Edenia's freedom as we know full well she really intends to make sure it's up for grabs when Shinnok's ready, and to see Jade getting good and pissed off at her.

They could do a fair bit with her during the classic timeframe, methinks. I'd be open to it. Best candidate for a non-MK1-3 DLC character in my view.
