They only put loin cloths in the front so they can leave the back open for optimal viewing of the panties. Although, to be fair, Scorpion's loin cloth only covers the front too. You know, for optimal viewing of his butt cheeks in spandex. Hehehe....... And to change it up they put one in the back of Mileena's alternate... Because a thong is a thong, no matter how you look at it.

The way I see it, all of the costumes are a vast improvement on the originals and the MK3 era costumes, which were just bland. They're so close to getting Kitana right, but they keep screwing her with little details that just make her unpleasant to look at. Mileena, on the other hand, consistently gets great costumes. They are much to revealing, however, and I quite liked how her costume was mostly black in Deception with pink accents. The veil was also an excellent edition, and it needs to be permanent.

Jade never looked better than her Deception primary, but if you forgive her odd looking boobs in MK2011, it's a very good costume as well. Her hair is nice too.

Why is Mileena's Primary being judged harshly for being "too revealing" but Kitana's Primary is "practically perfect" when its just actually a two piece featuring a thong that's slightly hidden behind a loin cloth?

You say that Mileena's top doesn't cover her back of her torso sides when it actually does! Kitana's costume is the one that doesn't cover her back at all.

Her costume does look like straps holding it together, however, her back and side are completely covered. I think you have forgotten because of the way it looks on the front. She's even got a cool design and all on her back.



I agree that it would have helped to have something more to spice up the space in her cleavage. A collar would have been perfect. Her costume is fantastic though.

I don't feel the "criss cross" is an important issue considering the overall issues of the two piece design.

It should have been a one piece costume. Her top should have covered her back to look better. That thong shouldn't have even been thought of and instead she should have had short pants like the costume of the "Cosplay Kitana" that we've seen. The loin cloth we could have done without (had she had short mini pants).

I think they add to the design and just look "super cool" and even (somehow) sexy. I'm a big fan of that kind of design and I think Kitana would have benefited greatly from something like that.

I'm not a hater of the face because I think she looks fine in most scenes, but, the overall design is simply terrible. It even looks like an incomplete early version of her primary considering how similar they look.

The random Mileena (MKD) sleeves look awful and the whole "emptiness" that you get from her almost naked body is just terrible.

I have no problem with those boots. I wish she would have gotten a decent one piece costume. In no way is this "perfect" for her.

It is probably the worst/most disappointing alternate of the game and one of the worst in MK (overall).



The sleeves look extremely awful in Kitana's costume. It looks random, unnecessary, and it actually makes the costume look and feel incomplete. Like, they forgot to include the other 55% of the design.

I agree that her MKD primary is simply flawless. Pure perfection. It was a brilliant new design that clearly inspired her MK9 look. The thing that makes it better, tough, is her facial features. The "amazonian" look was perfect. Her face looks great in the new game, but, disappointing when compared to her MKD look (including the hair styles).

The hair in her alternate is awesome BUT it just doesn't look right on her, imo. I keep thinking about her MKD hair (primary AND pigtails) and I just can't choose the new one over the MKD one.

The loin cloth was great and she rocked it in MKD. She still rocks it in this game but it's a shame they had to give it to Kitana and so many males because it gets kind of boring/repetitive.

That being said: her alternate is awesome. It looks gorgeous on her and its definitely not the worst of the three. Not at all.

I know its your opinion (and I respect it), but, I think you might be a bit biased considering Kitana's alternate offers so much less in every single aspect. There is no way I can look at both of their alts and pick Kitana as the better one.

I love the classic retro looks. And I'm super happy about them mainly because that's the costume I would pick (all the time) for Kitana.

Honestly, the ladies have never looked any better. Sure their UMK3 outfit was fabulous but their current redesigns actually accentuate their personality (Honestly, the only misstep were the alternates for Kitana and Jade).

I see that Kitana's costume is actually more revealing than Mileena's, Mileena's just looks more revealing because it has much more cleavage than Kitana's.

This was the scene in story mode when I was like whoa Jade's top opening is way too open. The straps should be wider and cover more of her cleavage, Kitana's costume got it right with cleavage, Mileena's and Jade's are pretty extreme.



If the front of Jade's costume wasnt so open the back wouldnt look as ridiculous either.



I like Jade's hair better in the render, it doesnt look like a low pony tail, its like her hair is clipped together like half up, which would have been a better look and closer to her MKD hairstyle

I think Mileena's costumes really suit her well and I really have no complaint with either. As for Kitana, my biggest complaint is her Michael Jackson face on her alternate and her hair and tiara on her primary (her hair looks too big from a profile view and her tiara just looks childish). Her actual costumes themselves are good, though I think I would loose the laces on her primary. My gripe with Jade's primary is the way her breasts are covered. In most pics it makes it look like her nipples would be too far apart. I think they should have covered her up just a tad more. And again, loose the laces. Her alternate is fine to me though. I agree with another poster her loin cloth maybe could be a little longer but overall I think it looks fine.

Honestly, I've grown to like them all, sans Kitana's alternate.

It's baffling just how much Kitana's primary has grown on me though. I love the tiara. When they first showed it, I was like... err.... not really feelin' it. But later on, after I accepted the absence of the leotard, I was like, yea, this is totally Kitana.

Kitana:

Primary: This is one of my least favorite costumes I've ever seen Kitana wear. First of all, I really dislike she isn't wearing BLACK and blue in either costume. Those were always her colors. Not silver. Secondly, that tube of hair is atrocious, and lastly it would take a lot for it to look good.

Alternate: I kinda liked it at first, but I grew to hate it. The only thing that I like about it is her hairstyle because it reminds me of my favorite Kitana costume, her MKDA alternate. The outfit is lacking so much. Her legs look empty. The short boots are fine, but if she had something on her legs like bands or something, then it's probably work.

Her face is bad. From the side it looks like a female Raiden, and she's too strong in her jaw.

Mileena:

Primary: Meh. Looks like a mix of her garbage MK2 look, her UMK3 look and Deception alternate. Nothing special.

Alternate: This is actually my favorite Mileena look. The straps, although randomly place, work well. And it looks like her MKD costume customized to fit her. (I always thought her MKD look was a better fit for Kitana; whom it was originally for)

The only thing I'd change is not have part of her butt crack showing.

Jade:

Primary: I like this look but it can never surpass her MKD alternate, my favorite and her best look, imo. I would like this costume more if it had a back to it and was covered up with more lace across her front.

Alternate: This is by far THE ugliest costume Jade has ever worn. The hairstyle does not suit her at all and her odd looking face, especially lips, is hideous. The boots are ridiculous.

I would love to participate this discussion, but I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. All I can say is that there a good things and bad things with all the costumes, but overall I like them. I love the three main costumes over their alternates though.

Kitana's main outfit.
At first I was VERY sceptical about this outfit of hers, simply for that one reason: it doesn't look like her assassin outfit. It's not a leotard which she always wore in her previous incarnations. Also, many mentioned that the elements of her outfit looked distinguishedly like Jade's main MKD outfit, having a top, a loincloth and thigh-high boots. The outfit screams "fantasy ninja princess" to me, and though she was indeed seen as the princess of Outworld back in the MK2 days, she was first and foremost an assassin.

However, after having played the game and seen her in action, I actually like it now. It's grown on me, so to speak. It is still not one of my favourite outfits for Kitana, but it looks nice and it's cool to see Kitana wear something different than a leotard - but I would definately prefer if it was her alternate outfit, and then her main outfit should be a leotard.

When we saw the first screenshots of Kitana chained to the stone pillars in Shao Kahn's Arena wearing this outfit, I actually liked it better than her main outfit. It is due to some certain elements, such as the fan-inspired design, the sectional ponytail hairstyle, the wide sleeves and the butt-cape. However, after having seen the outfit in action, I like it much less than her main now. It was a really good idea, but the execution of it is less than perfect. I see the point of it - it's supposed to be a Kitana-version of Mileena's alternate outfit - but it didn't work out very well.

This will always be my favourite outfit for Kitana. It is simple and elegant, being feminine without being slutty looking. And as shown in Kitana's concept art for this MK, it can work with a loincloth as well. Definately the one I was hoping NRS would use for her.

Mileena's main outfit.
It is quite obvious that this is inspired from Mileena's MKD alternate outfit which just so happens to be my favourite outfit for her, so I am quite pleased with this outfit. Where her MKD alt outfit had more of an Arabian feel to it, this is based on her MK2-MKT appearance, and I think NRS did a perfect job with it. I only have two complaints, and the first is her eyes... The iris should have been yellow instead of the whole eye. My second complaint is that I would rather have the hairstyle from her MKD alt outfit, covering down one of her eyes, being alot more sexy.

Again, obviously inspired from her MKD main outfit, but it is just not as good. Her MKD outfit was alot better executed than this one. It is nice for Mileena fans to have the option though, as I recall many of them wanting her MKD outfit rather than her main one.

I HATE that the MK team didn't have her outfit look exactly like this in MKD, but instead had reversed the colours (pink with black edges), because the way it looks like in this picture is simply perfect! I LOVE this outfit for Mileena. Yes, it is skimpy and slutty, but I don't fucking care! I love it!

Jade's main outfit.
Nearly perfect. I still wish she had some kind of choker, but other than that, this is by far the best looking outfit Jade has ever had. I love the hairstyle which is simple, but elegant, the black, green and gold colours on her outfit compliments eachother, the chains are a nice touch (though I wish they would move around freely in-game instead of being stuck to her thighs). It is a very nice update to her UMK3 outfit with elements from her MKD main outfit, such as the kneepads and the loincloth. Absolutely beautiful. There's not really anything else to say about it.

Jade's alternate outfit.
I was heavily disappointed by this outfit for one simple reason: the hairstyle. I get it, I get it... the outfit is inspired from Princess Leia's slave girl outfit in Star Wars... but I utterly despise that hairstyle. When seeing it in action, it doesn't look that bad. I don't particularly notice it while using this outfit in-game, but when I see her do her winning pose or fatalities, I can't help but frown at the hair. If only NRS had gone with her twin ox-horn pigtails hairstyle, then I would be satisfied with it.

Another thing which I've noticed alot lately is her boots. I do like them, but I LOVED her MKD boots, and these boots are kinda teasing me by looking like them without being them, and I hate that. That's the two things I would change... her hairstyle and her boots. Then it would have been alot better.

My biggest wish is to get this outfit as a DLC for Jade at some point. Then it would be the only outfit I would use for her. A boy can dream. ^^

Kitana.... *sigh* How could you go soooooooooo wrong?


First off, I'm starting to hate how light everything is. It's pale blue (with almost flowery-esque designs) with silver. Wha? That's not Kitana.

DARK blue. BLACK. Kthnksdone. This is just too...... I don't want to say girly.... but I kind of do...

Primary: Blandy mcbland. I ADORE the criss-crosses across the chest, ever since UMK3, but.... on this? Doesn't fit at all. It just looks like a tartier version of what she's had before (which in and of itself isn't inherently bad), less thought, less effort. Halter top. Bikini. Loincloth. Boots. Some wristkajiggers. Wham, bam. She's done.

And then the hair. THE HAIR!! *Kills self*. It looks horrendous. In her render it what alright, just flowing down her back, but 1. Completely ridiculous for a FIGHTER to have hair like that. 2. Animated HORRIBLY. There is no way in hell that can be a realistic head of hair. Anyone who thinks it is, is making excuses. It doesn't sit right on her head, and it doesn't move like real hair.

On the plus side, I did love the tiara and the earrings, and thought her face was gorggggeous.



Until that is

Secondary: Now.... I loved her hair in this. LOVED. And I really like the "idea" of this outfit. The fan motif. That's really, really cool and I would encourage that elsewhere.

But....

The execution -_- Yet ANOTHER two piece... yet another loincloth (but oh, tricky, it's on the back now! ) This one, however, gets saddled with poorly animated randomly placed sleeves, trying to be like Mileena's glorious (had to use Queve's word) Deception main....... lame boots that don't fit in the slightest......

And a face that in no way matches what I imagined from her primary -_- She looks like suburban barbie, not some exotic beauty like all her other faces, in games or film.

So disappointed this go round Kitana my dear :( You get a D (or a C-)


Mileena:

Overall, as a summary, "poor imitations of fantastic Deception costumes, but still pretty okay"

Main: A pretty decent reimagining of her Deception alternate, but sub-par in direct comparison. Liked the fabric it was made of in the render close-ups, and like the decoration on her mask, but preferred the veil, and preferred the pink as opposed to purple.

Alternate: Again, much worse than what inspired it, but pretty okay on its own. I love the across-the-boobs-but-in-no-way-could-realistically-contain-them look, but I preferred how in Deception it was a yummy, mainly black, thing covering her entire back and arms etc. If you covered her boobs in that, it would've been fairly "respectable", in the sense that it looked elegant. This just looks like a trashier version of that.

Which is okay, but I know what I prefer. Still my preferred costume out of the two, however! :)

Jade:

Primary: LOVE the render. That's fantasti-gorgeous. While it's also pretty risque, I think this one wins out of the three girls because it actually seems to work. It follows traditional lines in its cut, is a lot less.... schizo, than the other two's..... and those gorgeous gold chains on the waist are just scrumptious. Loved her hair as well, though would've rather not had the gold thing in her hair, and just made it a simpler wide ponytail.


Alternate: Again with the face?!!?!? The face doesn't match in the slightest. Thought it was horrible -_- Like something from MK4.
Like Kitana's, this was an okay idea, but in effect, is just lame. The hair looks silly, and she looks like.... jungle-girl or something >_O Just looked silly.

Overall, I give a B.


This sounded a lot more negative than I actually am. I think Kitana's gameplay looks great (still haven't got my copy. fucking australia, but my bro is bringing it up next month), as do the other two. I liked Kitana's voice actor and death scene. Overall, I'm enjoying the three. But there are criticisms, and I won't hold back on them


(For clarification, I also have criticisms of my girl Sonya, just so I don't sound hopelessly biased )

Kitana:
The biggest complaint i have about Kitana would have to be her hair. Why is it so necessary that she has long hair?? There's no reason for her hair to be longer than Sindel's. Maybe if they gave her normal length hair it wouldn't always look so bad. At least have her keep her hair up in one of the costumes. As far as her costume's go, I dont like them at all. Biggest problem is that they're not one pieces. Even though it's different, I don't think the two-piece works very well in this game for the female ninja's. My favorite look from Kitana has been her MKSM look, and would have like her to have gone this route in her attire. I like her alternate better than her primary, especially in the leaked concept art, but she has some of the worst costumes in the game overall. Also, I think one of the biggest problems is so much blue. I think the black to blue ratio on her costume should be at least 60:40, like Mileena uses black.

Jade:
I prefer Jade's Deception looks. Her primary is pretty, but it's far less cool than her Deception alternate. Maybe it's the gold that's bothering me? Her hair is rather boring and should be in some other type of ponytail or held in different places. Her alternate is a cute outfit, but I feel like it's too small for her lol. I think it would look cuter if she was less muscular. And her Ponytail braid thing is cool, but she definately needed her oxhorn pigtails.

Mileena:
Complaints: I HATE her hair in her primary. I really wish they would give Mileena longer hair, around 6 or so more inches at least. If her primary is a updated Deception alternate, I was dissapointed. I really like they gave her a mask again, but I didnt like how her costume connects at the neck instead of straps. Don't like her yellow eyes. For her alternate, this is a costume that has really grown on me! It's the most covered up of all six and looks best. Her hair is actually AMAZING and looks like hair. It's not as great as her Deception primary, but it's cool.


All these costumes tho look amazing in artwork that people do, but they dont translate as well in the game for some reason. I blame the character models.

it's simply a matter of taste...While some hate Kitana's primary, I loved it from the moment I set eyes on it. It's só Kitana, I can see the princess ánd assassin aspect in it. Perfect. And love the long hair. The only thing that should change is the colour, I agree that it should be darker blue like my avatar. Her alt, on the other hand, is horrible. It lacks, well, something or maybe everything. Her top looks okay, but hate everything from the waist down. Her hair is okayish but nothing more. I prefer it hanging loose. Her face hmm, I dunno. Sometimes it looks gorgeous (mainly while masked) while at other times it looks too masculine. I don't understand why they can't create a pretty face...

...as I was also disappointed by Jade's face. It's okay, but it has so much more potential. I do like Jade's primary, or at least the way it's shown in her render. Her hair is simple, not as "princess-like" as Kitana's, but that's fine considering Jade's role. Jade's alt looks absolutely uninspired...

...and so does Mileena's main. It's boring, nothing special and so is her hair. Like I've said before: it resembles Darth Vader's helmet. I do not, however, as ehh JadedRaven(??) argued, like Mileena's hairstyle on her Deception alt, covering one eye. That made her look ridiculous, like she's not able to comb or tame her hair properly. It made her look like a mental drug addict. Mileena's alt does look cool imo, and I love the ponytail. Not a big fan of the yellow eyes, I for one prefer the white eyes from MK:Gold i think.

mileena's outfit is the worst in any mk ever. oh, and her flesh pits costume is even worse than that. are boon and co REALLY so immature as to need to make mileena a near-naked whore?

jade and kitana both look beautiful in render, but in game they just look silly really. mainly due to their retarded body proportions (i.e. their boob to body ratio are WWAAAYYY off). their alternate costumes are also pretty crap, when the hell is an mk game gonna just please everybody and have a revealing primary with a well-designed, fully clothed alternate? do we really need identical alts minus the mask for kitana and jade? considering how detailed ALL the male costumes are in this game, and have been pretty much since deadly alliance. no excuse tbh.

overall, this is the best these three have ever looked. and i LOVE the light blue on kitana, hope it never changes back (same goes for the two-piece bikini, but lose the thong). jade looks simply gorgeous in her renders, but they need to sort out the female proportions as they make the girls look deformed.

Even though Mileena is the most naked of the three, Jade is the worst offender. Her Deception costume was elegant, and while it didn't cover most of her body, it held in her chest and her ass was not a main focal point. In this game, her top is soooo stretched across those boobs, and the camera angles in story mode specifically placed for viewing of her ass/boobs/etc..., it's all just too much.

Mileena's ass crack hangs out in both of her alts, with her panties coming low enough in each of them that in any ordinary person pubic hair(or the stubs that used to be pubic hair...) would be showing. What the fuck?

And yet, with the more than obvious excuse of "she isn't human", Sheeva is the most naked of them all.

I have so much disdain for the designers of these costumes.

I have even more for those who say "If you don't like the tits and ass, why are you playing the game?" .... Because the game was not like that before. The girls were always a little bit skimpy, but none of their costumes ever seemed to be specifically designed for boobies. It's disgusting.

Kitana's outfits don't bother me so much. Though they are ridiculous, I don't have doubt that she'd wear that sort of thing. And yes, heels are stupid in combat, but even Kitana I could MAYBE understand.

Mileena...I hate her primary outfit, but considering her insane demeanor and ways, I wouldn't be shocked that a woman like that would dress like that. It's very much distasteful, but she's a very distasteful woman. If she DOES become empress, I certainly hope her wardrobe changes, in and out of combat......kombat.

But Jade and Sonya? I hate their outfits.

I've grown used to Sonya's, but mostly because I love her pants. ......I want those leather pants..... But otherwise, I can't imagine Sonya actually wearing booted high heels, her ridiculous top, and nothing else. Sonya is a battle oriented woman. She's not going to wear something as ridiculous as her primary. But her secondary? I will admit that she COULD wear that. Yeah, it's skimpy, but that's mostly due to size. If the clothes weren't so small, this would easily be something Sonya would wear.

And Jade? ......Why wear clothing at all, really? She's pretty much one of the only REAL ninjas in this game, so shouldn't she wear more? This outfit is insane! Both of them are! Why would an agent of the Edenian army go around looking like Slave Leia?

I mean, I can believe that maybe Shao Kahn forces his women to dress like that. But even AFTER Kitana and Jade defect from his side.....

I like all Mileena's outfits, they're cute and spicy and I love the details on her main, like the design on her upper back and the sheer parts on her thighs that make it look like lingerie. Looking at her knees always makes me think Iron Man though. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Sindel's alt is my favourite outfit in the game. I would so wear that in reality.

Sonya's first outfit is ridiculous, why the hell hasn't she got a top on? Or underwear for that matter. Her alt I actually prefer, even if it is a little Lara Crofty.

And naked Jade? That would go down well wouldn't it? lol. Female ninjas historically did actually train totally naked though, interestingly enough. The bouncing physics alone for a topless character in this game would require a whole new engine.
