It is bound to happen eventually, so let's speculate about who will be the end of Dark Raiden. My money is on Goro killing Raiden, during the Outworld tournament.
I could also see Havik and Noob Saibot ambushing Raiden, like how Shang and Quan Chi killed Liu.

Who knows? Anything is possible with MK. But....I would say Liu Kang.Maybe they will both be restored to their former selves.

The protagonist of the next game in the last fight of the Story Mode.

Probably Fujin. He tried to do that in MK: Armageddon with Kung Lao where he took down the corrupted thunder god in kombat and swore to kill him but I guess he changed his mind and let Raiden live.

Interesting ideas people... Though thinking about it, my take is that I'd like to see Fujin, with the help of a restored Lui and Lao attempting yet failing, to take him on, and getting beaten badly to the point of dying. They fight well, yet can't overpower him...Then, and feel free to mock away , Bo Rai Cho appears.
Sure, the character is a joke to many, though he's IMHO a massively underrated character, reminds me of Sammo Hung, minus the farting etc. One simply does not mess with Sammo Hung .
Consider this, they are old friends according to MKX's story mode, and if we consider Cho's MKX ending,he does manage to prevent Raiden's konquest of outworld. He clearly knows Raiden's moves and skillset.
In the scenario I see, Bo Rai Cho does not kill him, but Raiden actually kills himself to remove the corrupting influence of Shinnok, after regaining himself. If he reforms in Earthrealm in this scenario, I'm unsure.
Discuss chaps, whadda think?

I see a slight problem with sparing Dark Raiden, only to allow him to kill himself; give him a few minutes of recovery time to perform the act and he might also simultaneously attempt to release his godly power, utterly decimating all those within the nearby vicinity.
That is not a problem if he is entirely knocked out, properly contained or finished.

Let Fujin do it. He's been passed on for too long.

My money is either on Cassie or Liu and Kitana's demon baby.

I say Fujin won't kill Raiden, but restore him.

Fujin is the best choice.
I like Cassie Cage, but I don't see her being the main hero ever again.

I've always thought that Raiden should be the one to censor himself and realize that he's gone too far. Kung Jin does seem primed to be the hero who does reel Raiden in, although I can't see him defeating Raiden. I could see a point in the story where Raiden kills Kung Jin, possibly leading to the other heroes finally snapping into their true potential and all fighting and eventually defeating Raiden (this would likely be Cassie, Jacqui and Takeda).

If Liu Kang and Kitana contribute a next generation fighter to the games, it makes sense that they are powerful, so them defeating Raiden (if not actually killing him) would be a good way to establish them as a big deal within the universe.

I don't actually see any established "pre-requisites" as to who is "capable" of defeating Raiden. It could well be anyone in the roster. Johnny Cage and Cassie kicked Shinnok's ass (Cassie defeated him at the apex of his power, in his mightiest ever incarnation in any MK), and Raiden himself got whooped by Sonya in MK9. Although, as with Kung Jin, it could be that Raiden only let Sonya defeat him because he didn't intend to win and potentially endanger the chain of events.
If I had to have a go with a "predictable" protagonist, though, it could be Shang Tsung. It was kinda foreseen in both Liu's and Shang's MK9 endings that Liu would achieve godlike power and become a primary villain threatening to claim all the realms for himself. And so it happened (he didn't become a "god" but a ruler of the Netherealm, but I guess it's kinda same?). If we now have dark Liu Kang and dark Raiden, it's reasonable that one of the former "villains" now attempts to save the day, and Shang Tsung, being an Earthrealmer by origin and a former MK contestant, could be the most likely candidate for the change of sides. And he has dreamt of having his revenge on Raiden and, especially, Liu Kang for a while, so there's that as well.
As written in the beginning of my post, it does not necessarily have to be anyone. If Shinnok was defeated in the canon storyline by relatively random protagonists, so could be Raiden. Indeed, if MK has taught us anything, either through story or gameplay, it's that there is no such thing as hierarchy of competence in combat.

Bi Han as himself not as Noob Saibot would be fitting due to MKXI if we are doing the call back route. And for a Call back, have Sareena save him as he saved her in MKM.
I would love a different Route for MKXI than the just the safe route. For example Having Kuai Lang as Sub Zero would be safe.
it would be funny if a depowered Shang Tsung becomes the New expy of Liu Kang and have Shang Tsung defeat both Kitana and Liu Kang.

If it's 1 on 1 it should be Fujin as he's also a god. Atleast that would make more sense than Cassie defeating DR. But hey, she defeated Shinnok on his best....
I think Raiden will be defeated by more than 1 combatant. It's Dark Raiden for god sake.
I hope a new writer will improve on that aspect.

Cassie. Me thinks she's the new Liu of the series. Or at least that's what they want her to be.

If not Fujin, then Shang would be a good choice.
No thanks. She was their mistake in MKX, we don't need that again!
