As a special treat the PDF is searchable! Be sure to print this in black and white.

Anyone else with any copy of any MK script is welcomed to scan it for us as well. I can also scan your script - I'll pay for shipping both ways.

I won't spoil the surprises this script has so here it is...

Excellent work. I know of only one other person who had a copy of this, and that was signed (not to mentioned sealed and generally unavailable for the past 14-odd years). Thanks.
EDIT -SPOILERS!!!!
Just a cursory read:
- This not the script that mortalkombat.com posted the first ten pages of.
- Three Elder Gods instead of two - explains where Fujin went, I suppose.
- Interesting scene with Jade:
THE MURAL -- Depicting Edenia's royal family: King Jerrod, Queen Sindel and Young Kitana. All posed before their splendid castle.
JADE (0.5.) Kitana's family ... so many years ago.

I always got the impression that Qali from MKC was the movie/TV equivalent of Jade's character from the games. Jade in MKA is more like Tanya.
- Not one, but four endings, albeit not mutually exclusive:
1) Raiden going off to become an Elder God
2) Sub-Zero and Johnny Cage appear to congratulate Liu Kang
3) Nightwolf declaring victory on a mountain top
4) The infamous scene with Shinnok and Quan Chi conspiring in the Netherrealm, of which only a photo or two has survived all these years.
- The proposed fight between Liu kang and Sheeva mentioned by Marjean Holden is not present in this version of the script.
All in all, interesting, and quite close to the novel. For some concept art from both MK movies, check out my site:

I just finished reading the script, I just gotta ask who was the dumbass
that decided to cut half of this stuff out. I mean just reading this is better
than watching it. they could've at least put out an extended version.

Robin Shou said in an interview that they had to cut a lot of stuff
because production was behind schedule from the start. Dana Hee
(who played Mileena) said a bunch of the fight scenes ended up
on the cutting room floor because the director wanted to show the 'acting'
parts, not the action.

Most of the concept arts for the movies look downright terrible. And I mean really awful. Kahn is so far the worse, utterly disproportionate....

Kinda funny, because the first MK was a pleasure to behold, aside conspicuous CGI. The second looked like diluted shit.

Thanks for making this available. I've been curious to check out the MK:A script for a while now. Its interesting to see what changed between script and screen.

The script itself, really isn't any good at all. Its has its moments, but overall still pretty horrendous. No better than the movie. Fight scene descriptions are pretty nice; dialogue, pacing, and motivation aren't fleshed out in any real way, however.

Alternate endings are interesting, especially the one where Johnny Cage is magically alive. I'm not sure why they didn't keep the Quan Chi ending, as it set up a third sequel. Must have not tested very well.

Overall, its worth a read for the diehard MK fans

These cuts would have made the movie just a bit better.
We must not forget that the sets, costumes, acting, FX
were terrible.

DAMN IT. Looks like the script is down. Was it anywhere else? I can't find Mortal Kombat scripts anywhere. I have no doubt a bunch of great ideas are lost out there.

An MK: Devastation script would help. I just read about how they started to film the movie before Hurricane Katrina ruined things.

I actually happen to like some of the things they did with MK: Annihilation. To say that the Elder Gods created the Earth in 6 days is a first in MK. The 6-day process of merging was kind of cool too.

There was an epic feeling to Shao Kahn, Sindel, and the extermination squads riding on horseback. This movie also had the one hot version of Sindel, Kitana having hot Talisa Soto reprising her role, and an unmasked Jade. The cartoon show was way better for deepening the characters and removing their masks (Smoke, Rain, Ermac), but the second movie did a great job for Jade.

Also, the second movie, while having its flaws, did have Sub-Zero and Scorpion fighting each other. Smoke comes after Kitana, but at least is explained as having first been sent after Sub-Zero, before being reprogrammed by Kahn, pretty much a correct translation of the story's games.

Cyrax's costume was great. Real life flipping and martial arts was great. Jax was great. Metal arms, sense of humor, and also a sense of cool and badass. Rain and Ermac kept their costumes 100% from the games, and Raiden and Shao Kahn at first. Rain and Ermac were shown using real life looking martial arts, making the movie look identical to the games while at the same time executable in a realistic environment. I'm just saying, some parts of the movie were cool.

Johnny Cage's burial shrine, the statue rising up from nowhere. THAT WAS COOL. The entire soundtrack kicked ass. The Cyrax fight scene song. The music when Jax says let's all focus on more important matters, like staying alive.

And Shao Kahn leaving the area, only to then have his voice ring everywhere through the air: "Annihilate them!" That was cool. it proves that, in the games, Shao Kahn's voice can be heard everywhere even when he is nowhere near. Even in MK1 the game, when Shao Kahn was absent, his voice was heard ringing through the air.

Stuff that looked off-topic back in 1997 - like a statue eating up a person - looks less so after seeing MK: Shaolin Monks, MK: 2011 . . .

Only complaints:
- no explanation behind Mileena (although her line "You wish" was cool, and the music selected was DAMN cool!)
- she should have had her veil removed to reveal her face to look like Baraka's, and Kitana should have said "She's a clone of me, born by Shang Tsung's sorcery", leading to a fight between Kitana vs. Mileena, fans vs. sais. That would have completed it.
- Baraka was not named, explained, WTF. Should have been his race responsible for attacking the Shaolin temples.

I loved the use of the Eiffel Tower and the bridge, though.

The Eiffel Tower kind of invokes the comparison to the War of the Worlds.
