Well Im back... I finally had some time to actually do some leasure activities. I fucking hate my job... Basically this drawing portrays whoever wins, there clan takes over specific territory... whatever... Anyways Ive been going to this new art school and I met a guy who works for EA. Ive took a few tours there but drawing for a game company... sucks... The moneys awesome but everything else just blows. Money is settled in a contract form where you could make up 120 grand. Lowest is probably 75G's.

Excellent. There aren't enough drawings with action on this site, everybodys striking a pose. This is wonderful. Mavado is a little young looking and less suave for me but that's okay. The position and e xpressions are very appropriate, I remember you having problems with those in your past drawings. I see no problem with this one.

In response to the contract stuff, the projects I've worked on in the past sound very similar to what you said.
Pay was determined by percentage of the gross take. The percentage was determined by position. On one job I was a 3D artist (basic), and the other I was a principle designer. The percentages and dollars were much different. Of course it was all determined by how well the game did.
The pace is breakneck, I can tell you that. Sometimes you just want to throw in the towel because, if your like me, you like to see your family every great now and then.
Then again freelance work is very unstable(money wise)

I'm a little curious about what "everything else" is that sucks about it. I'm guessing no creative freedom? Unfriendly work environment? No benefits? Tell me about it because I'm still tossong that idea around. I could at least try and get a gig as a game tester at Midway, seeing as I live in Chicago.

I can't answer the everything else part, but I can tell you software testing is the most god aweful work there is. The problem is it has to be done.
You spend countless hours doing the same stupid crap in a game to make it screw up. You can read this same in any magazine featuring games but having done it I can tell you it's the most boring part of the job.
My title wasn't game tester but working with a small team, everybody does testing. I've also done this when I was the IS director of a software vender to help out. Testing loan application software is even worse as you can imagine.
The plus side is most companies promote inside the company first. You could use it as a way to a promotion to actual game work.

That's great. I don't like Mavado's pose, tho'.
But it's a cool drawing.
4.5/5 Dragon Points.
Peace.

It has nothing to do with the working environment but sometimes I've been told that people get extremely frustrated and stressed out and turn into jerks for at least a couple days. The job is boring and linear. You can't really be creative at work either, its what the producer wants so you can't make the character look like what you want. At times your allowed to put your creativity to the test and when its passable it sometimes doesnt even make it to the game. Your always told to make alternatives for everything, environment, characters etc..., at least 10 alternate figures for each character. Something like that. I wouldnt want to work for EA anyways, they seem to make the same shit all the time. I rather work for someone who lets me expand my creativity. My friend's work has been shot down constantly and it pisses him off. He sometimes has to change the whole concept because some dickhead didn't like it. There just nerds, I would spit on them if I were him.
