Warrior Kitana MK5 Concept Art
Artist's Remarks: | |
My 2nd ever MK Fan Art. This was Pencilled/Inked & imported into Adobe PhotoShop for finishing touches and done in December 2001 before any MKDA images were released. I wanted to go for a more battle-ready (but still sexy) look for her. The Photo Background is of Kahn's throne from the MKA movie, which unfortunately pixellated from enlargement.

The Proportion is not correct, it lacks some details, the colors is not that great.

Actually the proportion is correct for her, just the foreshortening and perspective used make things a bit misleading due to her stance.
[EDIT] Her waistline *could* be a bit wider though, now that I look at it again. [/EDIT]
What details do you feel are missing?
I find that females shouldn't be overworked in drawings as it detracts from a more youthful appearance.
It's a Spandex/Armour plated costume, so there's not much room for detailing there.
I just used the Traditional Kitana colour scheme if that's what you meant?
(and the J. Lo look wasn't intentional at all Zentile, trust me! I just thought it more realistic for her to fight with Short Hair rather than Long Hair which would both get in the way, and could be used against her in a H-T-H fight. )

It's OK, not bad, but it could be better. The proportions DO look off... I see what you mean about the foreshortening of the stance, it's just that it isn't very apparent. maybe some more shading or some more visual clues to let you know that she is, in fact, in a slightly odd stance. I also don't really like the face too much... the eyes are off and the nose looks a bit rushed... still, it's a good job overall and I like how you got the fingers... I friggin HATE fingers, can't draw them for the life of me...

Yes I do. It's at the very bottom of my sig now as I re-added it the other night.
SubScorpTile:
Yeah, I tried to give the impression that she had the hilt of the fans buried in her palms for support and the fingers were over the side gripping them with the pads, but now that I look at it I should have tucked her thumbs in behind.
evilhomer:
True, I should hav shaded it better. That was my first experiment with blending modes in Photoshop. In time I hope to improve with it.
And yeah, I agree, her eyes are off a bit.
I should have ruled them across so they'd be more even than going 100% freehand on it all.
^*Jade*^:
Thanks! I tried to go by proportion and make her shoulders 2 head widths wide so that the huge head effect wouldn't happen, but I'm a little short on that now from measuring, but not off by too much.
Thanks everyone for the comments, this was my second MK pic I'd ever done and also second ever worked on with an Art Program.
I'm working on two new pics, one I'm pleased with and the other I'm not...I'll see on posting them up later.
