When it comes to your impact on the fake picture scene, I always thought you had the potential to be something greater than you ended up becoming. As much as my past self would not have taken too kindly to admitting, you did have a lasting impact on the community and I, for one, appreciated the eyes that you brought in, the and the entertainment you provided in our many disputes.

Regarding this image, I find the color scheme very calming, yet somewhat disturbing at the same. It's slightly reminiscent of some of the Mars Terrain in Doom 3, but with an MK touch. The background is original, which is always nice, and, despite some glaring flaws, pretty damn inspiring if not for the fact that I don't have the interest to delve back into this sort of thing again. Aside from conflicting resolutions between props, a few lighting issues, and the image search engine scraps (which I never learned to appreciate), and unlike much of your past work, this kreation is very impressive. I awarded it a solid 3/5. I wish this community still had the love for the fake picture industry that it once did. The memories are still nice to go back on once in awhile, though.

Ah it's been a good while Veno and I appreciate your words and critique. I see you also posted your entry from the 2013 FPK and I commend you for that. It's a mighty fine piece. We should try to kickstart this industry again especially with the MK11 announcement and MKO redesign - it's the perfect time. What say you guys?

I made an admittedly half-assed attempt to convince blacksaibot to take on a small MUGEN project with me with our first goal being to just finish a sprite sheet for a character of our own creation. At the time, I wasn't even convinced that I would be willing to finish such a lofty and time-consuming task. Honestly, the only reason I started working on such a thing was to jump-start my artistic inspiration so that I may finally find the motivation to write at least one of the books in a trilogy I hope to get published at some point before I get too much older.

Anyway, as far as trying to inject some life back into the fake picture industry, the only way I'd truly be open to such a thing is if blacksaibot is willing to make the odd contribution. I have a lot of ideas and MKX did a ton to inspire me. I hope but am not expecting MK11 to do the same. It's just a matter of finding the motivation to get something finished and blacksaibot working on something despite all the craziness involved in his life as an adult would be just enough to spark some motivation in me. To be frank, he's reached such a high level of skill that, for awhile now, I've had this hint of desire in the back of my mind to retake my place as the most recognizable name in the industry. That, and I feel like I need to make up for my failure to come through in the last community-wide FPK. Adult life forces us to abandon more than a fair share of hobbies, some for a time and some for the rest of our lives.

We'll see what happens here in the Fan Kreation forum over the next few months and I'll see where my life is at over that same span of time. Keep in touch and maybe we can get something going here.

I know where you're coming from. I'm in the same boat where my time is very limited but i do try to make some leeway for my passions. Hopefully BS will rejoin us down the line even though he gave up on the old MKO. I think the redesign is much better for interacting with user generated kontent.

Maybe we can get another FPK going for 2019 if enough people are interested. Also, would you guys (BS,SaiZero,Veno,Fedegita, MKR, etc) be interested in having your own page on my website to showcase your work? You can write up a bio for yourself and send me any pieces you want on there. I intend to keep the site up on a permanent basis.

@UltimateRyu and we're working to make it better, but we need your suggestions on what to add to make it the best experience possible. In fact, we just launched this past week support for fan songs (or sound effects, etc), as well as the ability to navigate series of kreations directly from each kreaction in said series. Please let me know if you guys have things you'd like to see added! 😀

I think the most successful fan sites are those that keep their user generated content at the forefront because when the news becomes slow it's the users that keep the site going strong. The redesign is definitely going in the right direction with the Kreations portal. I think the MKO staff should be more involved with this area and the Staff picks and Featured Art sections shows just that. It would be nice if MKO held official fan art kontests in different categories and featured them on the front page.

The Mortal Kombat Warehouse is a tremendous asset for MK fan artists. It would be great if those resources could all be zipped up and packed into some type of web based kreation template that MKO users can utilize. You choose a background and drag and drop the characters and props that you want to use. Of course there should be more to it, but that's the general idea. From a developer's perspective, it's definitely feasible and would have a lot of appeal to new users and those that want to dabble in fan art.

Hey BS, haven't seen her around in awhile but it would be nice to have you back on board for another FPK. When some of the heavy hitters start joining usually others follow. You should submit your 2018 winning entry to the MKO Kreations database. That thing demolished the kompetition and rightfully so.

Pretty useless, if you ask me... Doesnt she have to be on the website in the first place? If it sent an email to her registered email address, then I'd say it is useful.

I'm not gonna go into the gory details, but life was a lot different for me back then than it is now. Long story short, the girlfriend and I had a string of life-interrupting issues crop up at the time and all I asked for was a little understanding and respect. Besides, the site was a graveyard back then. This new site may not have breathed new life into daily visitor totals, but it has given life to my interest in becoming more recognizable on the site (in the Fan Kreations section, especially) without all the negativity attached to my name.

I'd love nothing more than to unleash on her in a head-to-head or community-wide FPK. For some reason or another, she felt it was her place to turn on me and publicly lie about me. That said, I'm sure she had her reasons and I don't waste the energy on holding grudges. I'm sure she's begun to realize and maybe accept that being an adult makes enjoying old, financially fruitless hobbies a lot more difficult than she initially assumed.

Whether or not she makes a return, I'd be interested in competing in another community-wide FPK. But, life does happen, so, as much as I may pine to do so, I can't give my word that I'll be a part of this one, either. For the first time in years, I have the undying desire to complete a fake picture. I take the fact that it's been such a constant desire as a good sign. Like I've said, just keep me posted over the coming weeks/months and we'll see where our lives are sitting.

Last year's contest was a dud. Despite how much interest it generated, only 5 had the balls to actually participate. Not to mention the deadline giving until the end of the year was tremendously generous as fuck . Unless we get some new blood up in here, it's always going to be the same OG's putting in work for a dead forum. I'm not deterring anyone from participating, but don't count on our beloved moderator Mick-Lucifer to announce it at the front page news in order to generate more interest. He'll just go about his business and move the thread to the Fan Koliseum like he did with mine. With so much shit that goes on in our daily lives, I don't see how anyone will muster the time to dig inside their belly button to come out with something fresh.

I wouldn't say people lacked the "balls" to enter that FPK. Sure, a year-long deadline may have been generous to some, but you have no clue how tumultuous one's life can be until you've lived in his or her shoes. For example, if blacksaibot said he would enter but later changed his mind, I would understand without mandating that he dole forth an explanation. Personally, I declined to enter not only because this FanSub forum was a graveyard as far as traffic was concerned, but because the entire year was one personal tragedy after another.

If it's just blacksaibot, UltimateRyu, and me, then we'll hold the fort until those who are willing to contribute are able. If it's just two or even one of the three, then at least someone is doing his part. No matter what, the content will be appreciated by those who frequent this forum, especially those of us who've been around since the beginning and still hold the desire to be a part of this community. Even one fake picture, as long as the artist has the talent, every now and again is fine by me. It just shows that the fake picture community hasn't flatlined.

Yes, let us form the Brotherhood of Shadow, gatekeepers of the fake pic industry. I really have the urge to get back into faking, it's just finding the time and inspiration to create something worthwhile. I say we do another FPK and give a solid month for 2019 signups. I can even promote on my Youtube channel and website when voting time comes if MKO doesn't want to get involved. My current channel is only a shadow of what it once was during the MK9 era but hopefully my subscriber base will boost with MK11.
