This is a story that I have made up by myself, although thanks to Lady Mage for creating the thread which has created this character. We are bringing back our fan fiction thread, you'll see it up there, and if you'd like to join, just ask. This story is about a young godling, who must pass the test to godhood. Stripped of immortality, he must find the keys to the gates of godhood. Sixty-two orbs, each honed by prized fighter of the tournament Mortal Kombat. And he must do it, or he'll stay mortal. Can this godling start his quest to godhood, or will unforseen events, delay, or even stop this test in it's entirety.
The Prolouge
Keith was born on a day of union between two gods. They both had their one and only child, and could now resume their duties. Keith's mother, was a Goddess of justice, fairness, and life. She brought the sun out each day and brought life to earth. His father was the Goddess of grudge, revenge, and vengence. His father loved to watch humans fight, and encouraged them to. He was one of the gods who voted for letting the Mortal Kombat tournament stay corrupted. Their union was by chance, not even meant to be. If it weren't for the One Being, this never would have happened. And yet, the One Being could not even see the consequences of his own actions. This, is the Chronicles of Keith.
*Fast forward 21 years*
Outside voice: Mom, the Elders want to talk to us again.
Keith runs into the room, outside of the door you can see clouds as a floor, and the sky is all around. Little godlings are outside, along with some Keith's age. One god that really stands out is one dressed in black robes. Most of the other gods are wearing ones that pertain to their powers (blue for a god of water, blueish-white for ice, red for fire, etc...). Keith was wearing gray.
Keith: Hurry up, we haven't got all eternity!"
Outside Female voice:Yes we do Keith, can't you learn patience, it's not like your going to die any time soon."
Keith: I get the point.
A beautiful woman steps out of a room. She's obviously older than Keith but still attractive.
Mother: I'll meet you there, you're obviously faster than me.
Keith: Okay mom.
You see Keith, then you don't.
Palace of the Elder Gods - Heaven realm
The Elder Gods are sitting at a long arching table, each chair filled, except for one. The chair reserved for Shinnok will never be occupied. They all look up at the arrival of Keith. One speaks up in a booming voice.
Elder God: Where is your mother?
Keith: She'll be here shortly. What's this all about anyway?
Elder God: You will find out when she arrives.
At the door, Keith's mother walks in. She bows once, and proceeds to the seat next to Keith.
Elder God: Welcome back.
Mother: Thank you. Why are we called to your great presence on this day?
Elder God: Your son must embark on the quest of male Godhood.
Mother: That's not fair. There's more fighters now than ever.
Elder God: That is unfourtunate, but your son is more than capable. And all of us present know his father will do anything to aid him, which is against the rules, but that's never stopped him before.
Keith perked up at the mention of his father, he only met him once, but even at that, he knew he was not a good man.
Mother: Surely, there is a way to do something about this.
Elder God: Sorry, but we can't. He can no longer be a godling.
Keith's mother looks at him, and looks down with regret and resignation in her voice.
Mother: Okay, take him.
Elder God: Keith, step to the portal, your quest will begin.
Keith: What quest?
Elder God: That portal will lead you deeper into this palace, all will be explained there. Use your god power to go through, you can't go through regularly. Your guide will show you how. Adam!!! Step forward.
A god who is younger than the rest, but obviously older than Keith steps forward.
Adam: I will be your guide to this quest. Once I start you off, you're by yourself. To get through, harness your power and use it to go through.
Adam walked regularly into the portal and gets shot back out.
Adam: See, you can't do it this way. But....
Adam turns into a ball of flame and shoots through. Keith looks confused. He knows how to shoot light. But he never learned anything besides that. He ran alot faster than anybody else, and when he sprinted, he sometimes overshot his target by miles, but he never learned how to really control this. Keith tried to run through, and he got shot out. He shot light at the portal and ran through, and still got thrown out. The Elder Gods started to mumble to themselves. Keith caught a glimpse of one's mouth. "He's not the right one." A mouth said. Keith stared back at the portal. His eyes turned black, and his feet disappeared. The gods looked back at him surprised. One second he was there, and the next, there was a black gash in the middle of the room, and the portal was closed. Adam's voice drifted from the hallway.
Adam: He's here. He's out cold, but he's here.
*Ten minutes later*
Keith's eyes start to open. Adam is sitting on the floor staring at Keith. He starts to get up.
Keith: What happened?
Adam: You came through the portal alot faster than I thought you would.
Keith: I remember looking at the portal, and then nothing.
Adam: We have no time to waste, so let's get started.
Adam: What your supposed to is get past the gates of godhood. Sounds simple enough right? See for yourself.
Adam transports Keith to a huge stone wall, with huge brown doors in the middle (exactly like the Shaolin Monks door). Their are 62 holes in the door, each one with a specific symbol.
Adam: Try to open the door.
Keith pushes the door, pulls the door, hits the door, and runs into the door, but nothing.
Adam: There is only one way to pass. You must get an orb from all these fighters in order to pass. You put the orb in the corresponding hole, and move on.
Adam pulls out a scroll. He hands it to Keith.
Adam: Every name there has an orb, and they all go to this door. Touch the name, and a picture will appear on the scroll. Unfourtanately for you, all of them either don't like you, don't like each other, or just aren't trusting people. Now, in order to get these orbs, you must learn a 'move of signifigance' or that's how my guide put it. Basically, learn the signature move, and then you do them a 'favor'. Once this 'favor' is done, the orb will automatically come to this door. The amount of time you have to do this is limitless, but if one fighter dies before you get his orb, you might be stuck here forever, and you will NOT age at all during this quest. Good luck, and possibly try to hone your skills in order to be a ready god. But I'm giving you one warning. Allthough you will not age, you will be mortal, so if you get stabbed through the heart, unfourtanately, you'll be the first god to 'die'.
Keith looks in horror.
Keith: So if I'm training, and I fall down, I'll actually bleed?
Adam: Yep.
Keith: Great, just great. I can die on my way to immortality, that makes sense.
Adam: I didn't make up the rules.
Keith: So when do I get started?
Adam: Now.
For one second, Keith stares at Adam, and then Adam, along with the temple is gone. Keith blinks, and he's in the middle of a grassy field. He has no idea what realm he's in. The sky has a purple hue, and the world fills him with an unsusual gloom. To his left, he sees a sea-side town. He decides that's a great place for him to start. He takes one step towards the town, and his scroll glows. He looks down at it, and one name is shining gold.
Li Mei - Outworld - Flying Flurry.
Keith mutters to himself
Keith: What the hell does that mean?
He looks at the picture, and the face, but before he knows it, a gauntled fist grabs the scroll from his hands and reads it himself. Keith looks up.
Keith: What the hell?
Man: Hey boys, look what we have here, a little scholar.
Keith sees that a group of twelve men are standing around. They all bare a flag, with a mask on it.
Keith: Give that back.
Man: Master Reiko would be pleased to give this to Emporer Shao Kahn. We'll all get a promotion.
Keith: Emporer Shao Kahn? I thought he was dead.
Man: Apparently not fool. Now leave this town before we have to do something about it.
Keith: I'm not leaving until you give me my scroll back.
The man pertends to hand it back, and as Keith grabs for it, the man pulls it back.
Man: Got ya!
Keith was about to strike when he saw a huge group of soldiers march into town. All the citizens ran home and locked up. The few that were left out were arrested, and led to a huge half-built building, where they were forced to keep building.
Keith: Just give me the scroll, and you won't get hurt.
The man chuckles, and swings at Keith with his fist. Keith ducks under it and hits him square in the jaw with an uppercut. The other men rush to his aid. He stands up, grabs the scroll and runs. Two guys stay behind to delay Keith.
Soldier 1: That's it punk. Your time is done.
He pulled out a spear and charges at Keith. Keith kicks it away, and hops up, landing on his foot, kicking the soldier in the face with his other foot. The soldier cartwheels.
Soldier 1: We are well trained young fool, you could never beat us.
As the soldier is talking, the other one sneaks up behind Keith. Keith could feel his presence, and when the man stabbed, Keith evaded at the speed of light. Keith looked confused at his own powers, but didn't have time to dwell on it when the soldier hit him in the head with the hilt of his blade. Keith falls to the floor unconscious.
Keith opened his eyes to see a blank wall. He immedieatly noticed that he was chained to the adjacent wall. To his left, he saw bars, so he knew he was in a jail. Across from him was this woman. He immedieatly recognized her as the women from the scroll. "Li mei was her name?" he thought. The guard looked into the cell, so Keith pertended to be unconscious still. The guard walked away. When Keith looked up, he noticed that the girl had been faking also.
Keith: Hey you." he whispered.
Li Mei: What?
Keith: We have to get out of here.
Li Mei: Are you crazy? There's over three hundred soldiers in this town.
Keith: So? Me and you can escape.
Li Mei: No, I can't leave this town while they're still here.
Keith: Who's they?
Li Mei: The oppressers, the emporer's army. They tried to take this town, but I lead the milita that fought back. We almost won too. But all of the sudden, my people started to drop dead like a sickness, so we surrendered. And the second we surrendered, it stopped. It was necessary to save their lives.
Keith: This concerns me how?
Li Mei: If you want to escape, you'll need my help, as I will need your help to rid this town of that filth. You help me, I can help you.
Keith: How about if I help you, you teach me your 'flying flurry.'
Li Mei: How'd you know about that?!?" She said in a dead whisper.
Keith: That's not your concern, but if you teach me that, I'll be glad to help you.
Li Mei: Fine, but you help me first.
Keith: Okay, but how are we goin-" Keith dropped his head and pertended to be unconscious. The guard looks on suspiciously, and he opens the gate. He steps in side. He walks up to Keith, and touches his face. He walkes up to Li Mei, and starts to touch her 'womanly' parts. The second he gets close to her most private area, Li Mei's foot escapes the chain, and snap kicks him in the face. He falls to the floor unconscious. Keith concentrated on making the guy dissappear by bending the light around him. He didn't know if it was working because his eyes were closed.
Li Mei: Where the hell did he go?" She said while freeing herself. She noticed that Keith had his eyes closed and a weird translucent something was coming out of his hand. Keith's power faltered for a second, and the man's leg became visible. Li mei caught on immedieatly.
Li Mei: What the hell are you?
Keith: That is not your concern. You do your end of the bargain, I do mine. Now free me from these chains!
Keith said that last part a little too loud because the other guard woke up. He walked over to the cell, and saw Li Mei standing in the middle of the cell.
Li Mei/ Guard: Danm!" in unison.
Keith used his left hand to throw a ball of light at the guard, who in return went flying into the wall. By now, Li mei had gotten him out of his chains, and Keith fell to the floor, exposing the unconsicous man. Keith stood up on shaky legs, his power drained from all of this effort. Keith used the last ounce of his power to throw the man into the cell, and lock it. Keith slumps onto the chair, sweating.
Li Mei: Come on, we can get out now!
Keith: I can't, that took to much power.
Li Mei looks at him like she's about to cry.
Li Mei: I've had to withstand these molestations, and tortures for months, and now that escape is at hand, your tired!
Keith: Listen to me. I'm not in the mood for you, or for any of your bull right now.
Li Mei: That's what I thought, you're pitiful. You couldn't even kill one soldier.
Keith jumps out of the chair, frightning Li Mei.
Keith: Listen to me right now. Next time you insult me, I'll make you wish that the guard in the cell was with you.
Keith's eyes turn a frightning black with a little trace of red. A black aura starts coming off of him. Li Mei steps back. Guards start pouring into the jail. Keith looks at all of them, and in a blink of an eye, there's only a darkness in the air as Keith, and Li Mei are gone, and all of the guards are dead on the floor, even the guards in the cell have swords through their backs.
Li Mei blinks, and notices that she's outside of the town. She immedieatly looks around for Keith, seeing him laying on the ground, eyes open.
Li Mei: What the hell was that?
Keith: I got us out of the jail, what more do you want?
Li Mei: Now we have to liberate the town.
Keith: I already did that.
Li Mei: Really?
Keith: Yes, now teach me your move.
After a few hours of intense training, Keith had mastered the Flying flurry, but the orb didn't go anywhere. Standing on the hill was the same guard as last time. He charged at Keith with a huge sword. Keith felt an unnatural calm, as a now white aura started flowing from him. Keith danced gracefully around the guard, dodging all attacks, and landing glancing blows. Finally Keith jumped up and did the Flying flurry, knocking the guard onto the floor. Li Mei charged at the man on the floor with his sword, but Keith kicked the sword out of her hands. Keith's hand turned white and he plunged it into the man's heart. The man's skin brightened, and every hole in his body started glowing out white. There was a huge flash, and then the man wasn't there anymore. Keith looked at Li Mei, and she looked on surprised as the orb on her necklace started to float away. It dissappeared and Keith looked at the scroll which fell out of the man's pocket during the fight. Li Mei's name was crossed off in golden ink. Li Mei hugged Keith and ran down to her town. Keith started to walk away at a quickend pace. He heard an ear shattering scream, and he saw her start to chase after him. He started to run.
Li Mei: You killed them all! Even my people! You're going to die for this!
Keith started to run as fast as he could, and before he knew it, he felt a ripping sensation throughout his body. He noticed that he was traveling at the speed of light, and the dimensional barrier was tearing. He ripped through and fell onto a cement sidewalk. There were cars buzzing by on the streets, and people stepping over him, looking at him very confused. He immedeatly recognized the huge building before him, the Empire State Building. And right next door was the OIA building. Keith's scroll began to shine again.
Jax - Earthrealm - Ground Pound.
"Great" Keith thought. "It never stops for me."
