Tanya Concepts.
Artist's Remarks: | |
Here are my three costume concepts for Tanya. I see her as the type of character that would rather use her 'magical' abilities over physical fighting. I tried to convey her as the type of woman that is always immaculately dressed. I wanted to express the many aspects of her personality through these designs, mainly her sexuality and sense of self-worth. Her background as Edenian aristocracy also heavily influenced the more elegant nature of these, particularly the second design. Hope you like them!

The second one fits sindel (in purple)
Love the third!
Love the third!
it really is a shame that people like you have more creativity than ANYBODY at nrs. because you just KNOW if/when we see tanya again in mortal kombat, she'll be wearing a very little more than a bikini.
BRILLIANT designs. the second one, especially, is superb.

Thanks so much for all the kind comments guys! Really appreciate them :)
The first design is actually my favourite, probably because it's the first I came up with, but I just love the egyptian look to it.
I'll defiantely be doing more of these concept sheets with three designs for each character, so any feedback on the style and ways i could improve would be greatly appreciated. :)

If you're looking for constructive criticism, I don't really have much. Proportionally, they are all decent without any obvious flaws, and the designs are all around better than pretty much all of Tanya's real costumes... Though, if you want to get nitpicky, you could work in some more light/dark values in your coloring. As it is, there is a shadow around every fold in the cloth or her body, which I think is where pretty much everyone starts before they head into advanced lighting(in other words: The most massive pain in the ass artists must face). Not that it matters for concept art, but in general it greatly enhances the look of an image to decide where the light is coming from and apply shadows and highlights accordingly. One thing that is almost always true is that shadow will not totally cover the edge of say, her arm. A small sliver of light will usually be on the other side. However, in certain lights, there may be little definition to it and it is kind of unnecessary to add.... *rambles on endlessly*

These would make awesome alternates but her primary should be more based on her MK4 attire. I would love to see you do some concepts on that one. You did an amazing job here though and I love them all but the first one is kinda my favorite one!

Thankyou for taking the time to give me some detailed feedback :)
Light and shadows have always been an issue of mine which I have never actually addressed.
It's something I really want to work on and will definately continue to try out.
I actually tried working some more light variation in the Skarlet concept Ive posted on Deviantart, which will be up here when its finished :)
Thanks again!

Thanks! :)
With regards to her MK4 look, the closest you'll see to that is the slight references in concepts 1 and 2 here. Im not a huge fan of that look and so don't really plan on doing much based on it anytime soon.
Glad you liked these thouh! :)
