During the first tournament, she was standing, watching, waiting. She saw as each combatant fell, one by one. Sonya, Kano, it was all too much as she got tired of waiting. She fled off to her realm of Edenia.

Tanya had felt so ashamed as to turn up to the tournament so late. Time passed by as the second and third had rolled pass. She was particularly watching the Edenian princesses, Jade and Kitana. Everything was a mess until he came to her ...

``Tanya, I know who you are,'' he began, ``Why haven't you entered in any of the tournaments so far?'' His face was simple, he knelt by her. ``I know you can bring great help to us.'' ``Who are you? How do you know who I am?'' She rasped. ``I am a former Elder God, my name, is Shinnok. I need your help to find the Mortal Kombat Champion, Liu Kang, and the Thunder God Raiden.'' She agreed to his offering, not knowing how Liu Kang had formed an alliance with Edenia.

``You what!'' Sindel screeched. ``You told this random stranger that you would assassinate Liu Kang and Raiden, fellow members in our plight!'' ``Yes, my Queen Sindel, but ...'' She was interupted. ``You will come with me Tanya.'' A strange man of white and strange markings all over his body came up to her and whispered, ``Don't say a word.''

Tanya was taken to Earthrealm to find Liu Kang. Once she did, she brought him to a cave, the Lower Mines, if you will, where he challenged Shinnok. Liu evaded all of Tanya and Quan Chi's attacks. He went straight for a flying kick at Shinnok to no avail. Tanya fled, saying as she left ``I can't believe Kitana likes you!'' What Tanya didn't know was that Shinnok banished him to the depths of Hell, the Netherrealm. Tanya believed it was her fault and decided that she shouldn't have been in a tournament after all, so she waited as time went on, until she heard a new threat: The Deadly Alliance ...
