Scorpion Figure
Scorpion Figure
Artist's Remarks: | |
This project began when I was in an art store and I spotted this little skull (about 2.5" tall), which I guess was intended for drawing reference. Being the MK nerd that I am, the moment I saw it I thought...SCORPION. The only problem was finding a body that was the same scale as the skull. Well, I found a body...the Psycho Circus Kiss doll of Gene Simons. This figure stands about 21" tall. The arms and skull were hand painted and the uniform was hand done.

Your craftmanship is exquisite; painting those things is no easy task, as I'm sure you know ^_^

Oh, very mature giving me a skull, SPOOn. Kinda ironic considering a skull is what started this post in the first place!

That's the best Scorpion figure I've ever seen.
Great job Aculeous!
I wonder if this could start a trend for MK fans.
Like making fakes, only with actual figures.

That is fucking awesome...
Thanks for the compliments everyone!
dragonj87: Yeah, the mask is removable. I actually ended up using part of Gene Simon's face for it. It was a bitch to paint. I thought that making an actual mask would be a lot cooler (and harder) than making a second head like many production figures.
By the way, I re-measured him last night and he's just under 23" tall, not 21" like I stated in my description. I know you can all rest easier now, knowing that.

Aculeus, what do you do for a living? Please tell me that it involves drawing and painting, because if it doesn't, then that'd be a huge piss-off, because your work deserve to be recognised by the more general population.

I have always said the original ninjas looked their best in Mk1, the simplicity of their costumes was something intimidating and made them look natural, really evil, the next games managed to take that feeling away by adding extremely heavy things and too much detail that (even though some look good) they ended looking rather silly.
This figure is prove of what Im talking about. I love every single thing about it, from the wicked MK Scorpion MOVIE eyes, to the colored cloth. Its simply...WOW.
You are really talented, I actually wish I had that figure, its superb!
The skull one I like too, but for some reason it doesn’t seem like Scorpion to me, maybe because the skill looks too happy, or maybe because it doesn’t have that evil thing wicked skulls tend to have, but its still an amazing piece of art.

I realy like that figure. As someone posted earlier, it does look like your Scorpion drawings. You should make more if you have the time for. I know I and probably many others here would want to see them. BTW is that cloth for the mask and suit?

Agreed!
This is awesome work. I'm no Scorpion fan, but I'd love to own that. Great job, man.

fucking awesome scorpion... someone earlier said that the skull figure dosent look evil enough, so heres my 2 cents; u should make some kind of fire to put on the skull, coming fromits mouth. it distracts from the normality of the skull, and makes sense in the "toasty" sense. i hope you do more of these and that you are recognized for your talent by midway's toy creators and hired immediately. no number is high enough/10

Really great job on that one! I love it, absolutly love it!
I like the way that the jaw on the skull kind of goes to the side, it gives it the haunted look (sort of scary in a way as well).
The costume is great, I liked how you did the original version then stead of the new crappy MK: D version. Good position for the clothing. Now my question on the clothing, did you tear a pice of cloth or is there somewhere where you can find Scorpion clothes?
It could've been just a little better (almost impossible) if you were to put a minature skull on the waiste line (like the original/new version of Scorpion from MK: SM). That would've given it a little more punk ass hit.
Now with the mask (not the skull), that is an awesome part of it! I love the eyes that you gave him, totally wonderful. My question: If you remove the mask, will the skull be there? Or do you have to remove the mask then put the skull on?
Well, good job with this, it is brilliant.
