"I originally was doing photo realistic digital painting of Quan Chi using my own face"


Now, when you say "originally was". Did that mean, you just cancel the project altogether and then took a picture of the Joker from The Dark Knight and just used it as reference?
I mean, no offense, but it really does, just google image The Joker, you'll find a few screenshots with the same head position. Then comes the eye make up. Never seen Quan-Chi with wrinkly eye make up, where as the TDK Joker, does.

I'm just saying.

I really like it as a simple design; it captures what a wicked and self-serving guy Quan is. But yeah, stylistically it borrows too much from the joker

I knew it looked a lot like the joker. Ha. I actually took a picture of myself and painted over it. I was playing around with effects and hit threshold on accident and it came out to that. So I refined it. I have actually gone back to how I was originally doing it and working on how I planned to. I'll take away the mess Joker like make up though. Great advice actually. It's too close to TDK's make-up. Thank you so much! This is the Original that I was working on.

This is really cool. I like how the simplicity of the work also captures the sinister look of Quan Chi. In a way for me at least it kind of captures all of the character by just seeing the face. very nice work!!
