Painting - Nitara
Artist's Remarks: | |
Spent an afternoon and night on this one. Reverted back to the original style I did with Lei Mei that worked so well. I learned a bit from latter paintings, like Sub-Zero, that extreme darks help a lot. Her clothing is rather simple pirate garb, inspired from her bandana. She originally had a tri-corner hat, but since it covered her bandana, I chose to remove it. :-)

Good use of color, but the shape of her face and her pose make her look a little chunky to me.

Very cool, I like the effects of the color on her clothing, the shadowing was done very good also, her face looks awesome except for her nose. I think it would need a little improvement. Awesome job keep it up.

Looks pretty good, maybe smooth out the shadows some more and blend the colors smoother.
It looks a little messy right now.
Just blend it more.
Good job though, keep it up.

Good work, i like the painting and usage of colours. Could be better, but its awesome how it is right now.
Its supposed to be messy. That's apart of the pictures charm. Besides, I was painting it like I was a pirate aboard her ship, painting a portrait of our fearless captain. So I doubt pirates would really be worried about smoothness and perfection either.
Perfecting realsim in painting is sorta pointless to me anyway. As one of the critics to my perfect portraits had told me, "Well why didn't you just take a picture?" And I think he had a point, at least when it comes to painting - if you have the ability to make it perfect in realism, then don't, and have something more.
But uhh ... I will work to get that body and nose right.

Now that is very nicely detailed. You got the face and hair right. Good job.

I'm curious, you said it was painted but it looks really digital. What medium did you use? No biggie either way, like I said just curious.
