New fake! (1st one I've done in months!)
Artist's Remarks: | |
Here it is. I wanted to get this finished with some new sprite edits but MKwerehouse is having a make over. I was impatiant so I got some sprite edits that I had already done in the past. The main thing was making a rainy pit and a new ice thingy. The rain took me a loooooooooooooooooooooong time so criticise & critique... comment comment comment!

well done on that, one of the best fakes i've seen in a while i like the rain and the way you did the reflections and rain drops splashing, good attention to detail and the ninjas look good only thing i dont like is the energy bars and text but thats about it, overall top work 8/10

Very good. But why does everyone make their fakes so small? I have to bus' out windows magnifier to see it properly.

K. The bg is decent I like that way you use the Mk4 bg Mountains. But a better floor could of been better instead of using parts of the Pit. The rain is good and that way its falling on the ground is very nice but the quality destroys it. Although the pit bridge looks pixelated =/. I like the lifebars but the text is blurry and is horrible. Better style of text could of been a better choice. The SubZero sprite is good but his "thing" on the middle is more lighter while the rest of his clothes are more darker. The Reptile sprite is cool like the detail you put on his eyes.
Well i'll cut you some slack since you havent made fake pics for months now but to be honest with you, you done better. Also focus on the quality I seen 10 times better jpeg then that.
And I always respected you since you don't rely on other art program and you show potential especially the way you show that you could do things in Ms paint.

Well all that time paid off. The creativity you put into this pic is outstanding. The small details like the drizzle and reflection off the bridge, the water droplets those are what really sell a pic like this. I'm not to concerned about the sprites as they are up to the usual standard.
That's the highest score I've given to a fake not made by Max.

At first glance it looks awesome, now with a closer look, I have a couple suggestions.
I don't know what program you used, but in Photoshop, there is a way to make rain very easy, and fast.
You make a black layer, then add white noise, so it will be a black box with hundreds of white dots on it. Then put a motion blur filter on it, and rotate the box at an angle.
On the layer options, I forgot the name of it, but it will make the black in that layer transparent, so you will be left with white rain looking marks. Then you can use the eraser tool to randomise it a bit, then make another rain layer, and change the size on it, and have it at a lightly different angle. you can play with the transparency on the rain layers too.
The effect is very realistic.
You will find the tutorial here. Look under "Photoshop."

Look around and see if it helps.
................................................
The floor does not look good with that filter that looks like a bunch of dots.
I would just do the same thing, but just make the reflection layers transparent, so it looks smooth, like glass.
Then add hilights with the brush tool.
The life bars are pretty good.
The text needs some work.
Overall it looks great.
Some people don't like transparent or soft shading for fakes, but that depends on your taste.
Blending smooth transparent things was done in Capcom vs snk, and it looked good to me.

This is pretty cool. There are some minor things that doesn't look very good like the water on the floor and the characters' names. What you tried to do with the rain drops is pretty good but it didn't work well on the floor. I sugggest you take Bleed's advice, he's good with these things.
4.5/5 Dragon Points.
