Mortal Kombat 4 in 2D
Artist's Remarks: | |
Reptile is a remade sprite of Shang Tsung from MK3.Scorpion is made from Scorpion sprite(MK2).Timer,lifebars and all signs are from MK4.Arena is Living Forest(MK2).I chose it,because in MK4 there is also Living Forest background. Sorry,it's my first fakescreen,so that is why it's not very sharp and neat. This screen is made in Paint.

I like it a lot. But the sprite quality looks bad. The editting skills you have are mazing though. A hell of a lot better than my MK4 version.

not bad, the shadows don't bug me that much other fakes they just copy and paste but accorse a newbies never puts shadows. 1 thing thats very very bad is the quality for some reason, it looks like you had that fake for very long time saved on your hard drive and saved it as a a jpeg type way to many times. but im proud that you have good creativity go to blacksaibot fake pics page 1 of his pages he has this fake is practicly 1 of my favorites he also made a 2-d mk4. keep up the good work t-rex.

Make 2 copys of the fake save 1 as a bitmap the other as a Jpeg, let the be the last time you save it as a jpeg...why? cause when you save as a Jpeg it losses colors trust me. it keeps blurring and blurring I notice this way to late thats why im doing some redos. Another example: Save a picture save it as a *gif and you will see that your picture totally losses it colors. I hope this helps and keep up the good work, I like to see more.

no problem
Hi, T-Rex! As I said before, your fakescreen is very-very cool, and because it's your debute - it's outstanding! So, maybe you'll continue this work of yours?
Great respect from 7Blades and superb HELLO from Fatality.pristavki.net!

I think it's cool. I like the concept and switching the typography from MKDA to 2D MK4. Better luck next time on saving it though. Keep up the great work.
Actually, as I have mentioned to ZW before, the poorish quality is due to the automatic jpeg optimization when saving low-end paint programs like Paint and PSP. I would advise to save as gifs instead, but since those cannot be uploaded... well, ya may need to either deal with the annoying optimization, or send your pic to a person who has a higher-end program like Photoshop to save the image for ya.
As for the fake itself- tis some impressive ediring skills here. Did you paint the edited parts on yourself? Cause if so, excellent work with the scales on Reppy's skin. His head looks a bit long on the back, but no biggie.
Whatever yer mom did, Scorp's sprite does have a good set o' abs ;) But that's some nice pixel work on his edited mask and sash. Good stuff.
I don't think it was a good idea t actually use the lifebars from MK4- unless ya could rip them cleaner, they look too distorted around the edges (and MK4's lifebars are too plain, in my opinion).
Also, the sprites still have a bit of a black outline to them- mainly on Scorps left arm. Don't hold back getting rid of the black background around the ripped sprites- its okay to cut into the sprites a bit to get rid of most/all the 'halo' that surrounds them from anti-aliasing.
I have to agree with the others on the shadows- they're present at least, but they could be more realitsic. a simple way to make a cast shadow is to outline the sprites with a selection tool, skew them, make them completely black, flip em, and line the feet up. Its a cheapish method, but its than simple ovals 8)
This is your first fake? Well, I'm impressed. Shame t'was plagued by the crappy optimization, but its still a clutch edit job.

Jpegs are a file types that use compression. Unlike bitmap or PSD files which save exactly in their original format. For the Jpeg the higher the compression rate the lower the quality but the smaller the file size and vice versa. Unfortunately with a program like paint you have no control over it. For a quick fix Office comes with a program called photo editor that saves pretty good. Beyond that try PSP or PS.
Hope that helps

Well put Rahmeir- that summed up optimization exactly.
But PSP is not much better at jpeg optimization than Paint- I've experienced it enough since its my main paint program 8)
Unless one has Photoshop, CorelDrawl, or Painter, I wouldn't bother with using the jpeg format in paint programs :p
