Much like my ancestors before me, I serve the Shaolin order and the forces of light. I've been defending my home realm for many years alongside Liu Kang, up until his death an resurrection at least. Back when before my official involvement with the legendary tournament began, I was just a young monk, fresh out of training. I wished to participate in the tournament and represent the order of light, but the grandmasters chose Liu Kang, a student I had trained with, to go to Shang Tsung's island instead.
The desire to compete burned inside my heart. Now I don't understand why I was so anxious. An instructor at the time saw this and proposed I attend the tournament to look after Liu Kang, behind the orders, and Kang's back. With reluctance I accepted, he told me to infiltrate Shang Tsung's boat and hide out until i make it to the island. I decided to bring with me a weapon passed down in my family for centuries; the hat blade. Once there I would sneak off and steal one of Shang Tsung's masked guards uniforms. I accomplished this, but it was not with out its challenges .to sneak on the boat I had to get past one of the unmasked guards and for the entire sea journey I hid in the lowest portion of the boat, had to execute any one who happened to some down. To this day the lower potion of the boat os said to be "curse", and no one will step foot down there. After we arrived at the island it was a synch.
I found it hard at times to watch the carnage that went on, but this help to strengthen me in later MK tournaments. I almost gave away my position in one fight between Liu Kang and Outworld General, Liu Kang had been knocked to the ground many times I just about sprang out of my disguise and to his rescue but then I was reminded of the rules of MK, and it looked as if he was about to die, but some how he found his inner strength and defeated this opponent. That night, a worried Shang Tsung sent one of his assassins to kill Liu, luckily i was aware of this and intercepted Reptile on his way to Kang's quarters, in a dark area of the island. i defeated him with out revealing my disguise or true identity, but I was unable to finish him.
The next day was the unscheduled finale battle between Shang Tsung and Liu Kang. This is when I revealed myself to help defend the Earthrealm warriors. Tsung was defeated but the fight was far from over, we were immediately thrown into a new adventure directly after the siege at the Wu Shi academy. Our journey through Outworld was not an easy one.
It was during this time that I began to respect the other Earthrealm fighter, rather than see them just as competition. And I realized that I could not have defeated anyone without their help. But before we could make it to Shao Kahn, he began the merger of Earthrealm and Outworld. We traveled back to our desolated home realm and engaged the Emperor in Mortal Kombat. Again, Kang defeated the impossible odds.
After this there was finally piece among the realms, but the piece didn't last very long. I was again thrown into another conflict for the greater good of Earthrealm, but it was not Outworld that we were fighting, this time it was a new threat for the Netherrealm.
Fighting through the atrocities in that horrible realm was even worse then the trials we felt in Outwolrd. I had become much weaker as a result of this venture, and when it was finished I vowed to trail at the Wu Shi academy and never fight again, at least outside a Mortal Kombat tournament. Liu Kang and dI we're instructors and student at the same time. Kang would always train by himself every week to hone his skills even further. it was during one of these session that an old foe, Shang Tsung, and a fairly new menace, Quan Chi sprang their now infamous attack.
I came running when i herd the sounds of a struggle from the area. Then I saw something that filled me with fear, until then the most horrifying thing I had ever seen where the atrocities in Outworld, but this sight was more horrifying then all those combined, Shang Tsung, the sorcerer I thought we defeated, standing with his hand around Liu's neck. I wanted to movie, to rescue my friend, but I couldn't, I was paralyzed, something held me back. I couldn't believe my eyes, Quan Chi and Shang Tsung were working together.
When I finally snapped out of it, so did Liu Kang's neck. In an instant, he was gone.

I wrote this bio for GIjoker's fan game, but I'm not sure he's making it anymore. For a while it just set on microsoft word until I decided to submit it. It's an alternate depection of Kung Lao's life up to MK:DA. But in many ways it's similar to his canon bio.
