Coloring Kenshi
Artist's Remarks: | |
This is what I would want Kenshi to look like. Karim did a good job coloring it but the colors werent what I wanted them to be, still a good approach.

Yes.
I definately like this much better than Karim's version, mainly because of the colour choices, and that background has gone. Plus, no "scratch" effect was added (what was that?).
Anyhow, as I said.
The colour choices here seem much more appropriate to your concept, and to Kenshi himself.
The colours aren't flat, and everything is nicely shaded.
The background however, I am NOT so keen on. I'm not sure what it is, fire/paint being chucked around (lol), but I don't like it, and I feel it detracts from Kenshi quite significantly.
I would prefer just a white background, as everything is easy to see, and the chracter stands out MUCH more.
Unless the background defines the character's "element", which I'm not seeing here, then I don't think there's much point in it.
I hope you understand that, because that somehow popped into my brain, so I typed it .
Even still though, I prefer to the black and white version, and of course, Karim's colour version as well.
It's much more detailed, particularly with the colour choices and the shading.
Nice work .

The only real thing that stands out is the terrible, terrible aliasing. The color job is actually very good. Much better than your last. The colors do look like they don't totally blend into the picture. Might want to change your blend mode if you are using such a program. That could also be artifacts from the save too.

This is better than your first attempt when you were coloring your Sub-Zero/Scorpion sketch. You captured the muscle structure quite well, and your choice of skin tone was good. The head was colored well overall, I like the hair. Still, I'm not wild about the two colored blindfold, but this is an improvement over the other colored version. I do like the shoulder pad, it looks like its 'worn' and I believe that fits with the picture itself. It was easier for me to see once you colored it, very nicely done.
The colors you chose for the strap across his chest and the cloth itself were good. I like how the strap differs in color slightly, rather than having the same red as the cloth, it matches the armguard. On the cloth itself though, the shading appears a bit random to me, then again there is no real light source identified here. It looks almost right I think, but the dark areas cover a bit too much area in my opinion. The sword handle is a good addition though, the way you colored it makes it stand apart from the rest of the sketch, and that gives the drawing a bit of energy.
About the background, I suppose it's really your preference if you like it or not. Myself, I don't care for it all that much, but that's just because I'd rather it 'fit' Kenshi. I may have liked this same background if the character was different. But either way, you improved on your coloring skills in this one, pretty well done.

Very, very lovely. Good 'ol hand-coloring, oh how I've missed it. I love how hiw clothes look like blood. You've made some very interesting and pleasing color choices.

it looks like you traced your pencils on the computer with a paintbrush icon...that's terrible. if you want your pencils to look dark as ink then get photoshop...do you use photoshop? cuz there's a trick, ctr+m, use it and darken the pencils...looks like fresh ink if you do it right.
