Sub-Zero wasn't at his best in MKX, but Havik is really lame. No vote for you!
Huh. I thought Sub-Zero was portrayed better in MKX than MK 2011, gameplay-wise at least. He was slow and with a caveman-looking stance.
But I miss his MK 2011 voice. Steve Blum is fine, though.

Round 3! Sisterly rivals! Mileena was created in the Flesh Pits from the genetic material of the Edenian Princess and savage Tarkatans. After the death of the Outworld Emperor, it is she who claims birthright to his empty throne. Kitana is absent from the civil war Mileena wreaks. Killed during the invasion of Earthrealm, she is a revenant pawn for the fallen elder god Shinnok and his new conquest of the mortal world! Will Mileena use the amulet of Shinnok to destroy her sister once and for all, or will the Princess rise from Hell to claim the throne? Choose their destiny!... FIGHT!
I like both characters. Kitana was an MK2 legend. Mileena is one of the current top tier fighters in multiplayer and single player. I don't give a damn about multiplayer, but both characters perform well in single player. Mileena I feel is more fun to play. Kitana's moves and combos are amazing.
Mileena is MK's flagship "sexiest female character" yet has the face of a demon. Remarkably improved in MKX with the actual lips. She's a jobber, sure, but she's also bad ass. She has some of the most gruesome fatalities in MK history (I remember feeling queasy the first time I did her gut-munch fatality in MKX), and play-wise she's very smooth and easy to use.
Kitana is far more technical and requires precise timing. She's always had good design but the revenant look is very cool. I like the Empress skin. I find her arrogance to be annoying, if somewhat comical. As a matter of fact, "Ugh...Cage" is one of my favorite intros in the game. It just made me laugh. Her fatalities in MKX are meh. The "Mournful" variation I feel was a waste. Overall, she plays well but feels more complicated than Mileena.
Design wise I liked Mileena muchbetter in MKX.
My vote goes to Mileena.
After MKX, Mileena. Though, I think Kitana also never looked or played better than she did in MKX.
This.
I dont play the game, but I watch tourney streams and I find Kitana more fun to watch due to a greater variety in combos and the fact that she doesn't have cheap OH/low 50/50 to easily open up opponents makes her rely a lot on spacing and footsies which, for me, is the most exciting gamestyle. Mileena is better tier-wise though.
My vote: Kitana, of course ;)
all the stereotype native american (or first nation) fighting game characters belong in the trash.
Nightwolf needs a retooling
Yeah because native americans don't give shit about nature and would rather work at casinos! Nightwolf should be renamed to Jim Johnson and be an emo because that's totally not what a native american is!
this is an incredibly dumb response

Oh boy, I can't wait to see how ClassicSmoke replies to this.
It's just hilarious how non-americans think they know how native americans are and then say that Nightwolf needs to be re-imagined. Any of you non-americans ever been around real native americans?
I'm Canadian, so yes I have.
I'm actually shocked that a US citizen has met a "real native american", I thought you killed them all!
Kitana because Mileena scared me the first time I saw her face
EDIT BECAUSE IT BUGGED ME: I have a Canadian flag right by my name. I'm an American, too!

I'm Scottish, not American. And yes, I have been around a real native American.

Round 3! A Lin Kuei showdown! Smoke was a loyal member of the Lin Kuei clan until the Grandmasters chose imposed mechanization. Fleeing, he instead gave his life fighting to prevent Outworld's invasion of Earth. Now he serves Netherrealm as a smoking enenra! Frost is a recruit of the new Lin Kuei clan, but her loyalties lie first and foremost with herself! Craving power, she is a dangerous new generation of ice wielding cryomancers under the Grandmaster Kuai Liang! Both lingered on the fringes of the Netherrealm invasion. Who made a bigger impact?... FIGHT!
Hey look, a couple of my favorites characters that weren't in MKX. Thanks Netherrealm!
priceisrightlosinghorn.wav
Anyway, I voted Frost. She had more to do storywise over the past year than Smoke, which really isn't saying much.
Not just that, though. When Smoke avoided becoming a Cyborg in MK9, he also managed to avoid what made him so compelling in the first place. He was a tragic figure in MK lore. He lost his freedom in MK3, only to regain a bit of humanity to try and help his friend Sub Zero. He ultimately finds himself deactivated and tossed in Shao Kahn's basement as a war trophy, only to once again be reactivated and be forced to to assist Noob Saibot in his plans to take the Netherealm for himself.
The whole enenra bit seemed like it might be OK, but, it turns out that Smoke is not an enenra, but enenra is his own being? So...what now?
Does Tri-borg become canon only to have Smoke become self aware and take control? Is Smoke just gone now? Ugh...
**end Smoke fan rant.

Have you seen Foxy use Mileena?
She does have more mixups and 50/50 options available in her tool set, but that's isn't Foxy's style. He hangs back, slows down the pace of the game a bit, and let's you hang yourself.
But that's any character, really. And that's one of the things I love so much about the game is that most characters have different "flavors" of play styles. I've played with Reptile's that are relentless rushdown fools, but I've also played with some that take spacing into account, bait stuff, and/or may even zone a little. Just like when I play Bartitsu I prefer to play with footsies to control space, aim for corner push, and punish jump/run ins instead of relying on his heavy mixup game (I save that for the corner ). It all just comes down to your own preference when playing.
Not disagreeing with anything you said, but I'm bored and wanted to throw in my double pennies worth lol.
As a legendary MK2 secret character who further developed his own storyline, and with his excellent reinvention in the new timeline, Smoke is definitely a favorite. It's a damn shame that he was relegated to a mere background revenant in MKX. The fact that they killed so many characters wantonly in MK9 was a bit contrived, IMO. Overall though, Smoke's moves, brutal fatalities in MK9, new look, personality and backstory...he's a clear winner.
As for Frost...she's yet another one with enormous potential that has never been realized. A THIRD cryomancer? There's significance to that and they need to delve deeper. Instead, she's made no major appearance since MKDA (other than Armageddon which doesn't really count), and remains a forgettable 3d era character whose potential was completely wasted.
