Rain is the only "ninja" I like. The rest are so overhyped and annoy me. Tremor is the worst, so Ermac by default I guess.

Even though I liked Tremor's reinvention and still think he has some of the best sound effects in the game, I voted Ermac.

Ermac will just always be in my top 5, no matter how poorly he's been portrayed in story mode since the reboot.

Tremor. Not particularly keen on either character but where as Ermac felt completely stagnant coming from the last game, Tremor was at least something fresh. Relevancy coming into play here. Ermac's floating animations are cool though.



Might have something to do with the fact that he barely had a backstory at all before that point. Not to mention his new moveset, new design, synergy with Smoke as the first tag-team character... There are plenty of reasons to like Noob for his reintroduction in Deception.

Gameplay: Ermac. I've had a lot of fun with Tremor in MKX, but it can't compete with how much fun I've had with Ermac.

Personality: As much as I like Ermac, his personality basically consists of "We are more than you." Tremor's actually really funny in the intro dialogues. On this one, I have to go with Tremor.

Design: Tremor had a good design, but Ermac has had some of the best designs in the entire series.

Finishers: Inner workings says it all.

Backstory: Ermac. Tremor doesn't have a backstory.

In a fight: Ermac. He can easily avoid Tremor's earthquakes and rocks with telekinesis.

The telekinetic fusion of souls wins against the rocky brute 5-1.

It seems that the 8 characters with the best tournament statistics have all been placed into different rows.

Sub-Zero, Kitana, Smoke, Noob, Ermac, Fujin, Kenshi and Raiden.

C'mon, that's enough for a whole row all by itself. Why not put them all in the same row next time?

Sareena was reborn/forged in Hell and has spent most of her life there. I would love to see a spin-off with Sareena, exploring the infinite Netherrealm.

I always felt awfully sorry for her after she helped Bi Han and Raiden and him just abandoned her there for years. To what unspeakable tortures Shinnok and Quan Chi subjected her is painful to think. Glad to see she finally escaped, though the Earthrealmers keep punishing her by making her their intel and keeping her in the Netherrealm (!).

I think she's way more interesting than that other character

I still feel Kung Lao has yet to have his moment in the series. Even though I prefer Liu Kang, Kung Lao is still a kickass shaolin oddjob.

Voted Sareena, surprisingly. Never been much on her, but just felt like keeping things fresh.

First, wow...the most requested character in the history of the franchise...the character who had more individual topics dedicated to him on MKO than any character in history...the character that people would take over completely unrelated topics to talk about and turn the thread into a topic about him...the character that people pined and whined for for 15 years...the most beloved and sacred Tremor...lost to Ermac...the red ninja who is "not ninja enough" anymore.

I think the debate of "only popular because ninja" is now settled after 15 years of "NO! NO THAT'S NOT WHY!" Funny thing is I actually enjoyed him in MKX just a tad.


But I digress.


I choose Kung Lao. Sareena, like Tremor, is only popular because she's never been playable before (unless you count the shitty Game Boy port of Deadly Alliance and the equally shitty Armageddon). I would love to Sareena get her shot...she deserves a chance to earn her spot on a main MK roster...but I don't think that will ever happen, period. But the fact that she is beating Kung Lao currently in this poll proves this 100%. If Sareena had been in MKX, there's no way she would've gained on Kung Lao in this vote, because no one would care anymore.

Kung Lao has always been one of my consistently favorite characters since MK2. Even if I think he had no business being in MKX other than a background character, he's still a favorite.

Gameplay: Kung Lao. He's been consistently fun to play as in every single game he's been in.

Personality: Kung Lao. Fuck off, Sareena.

Design: Kung Lao because hat.

While I'm not a fan of Sareena, I appreciate what she's contributed to the lore and other character's stories (regardless of how minimal it's been).

Furthering development for Sub, Quan, Shinnok, and even Noob and now for herself finally in MKX (again, however minimal).

I've always preferred Lao to Kang, but both were just incredibly stale to me in MKX. Especially Lao.

Kung Lao lost some his mystic to me starting with MKDA. He always came up as a mysterious silent type that would randomly show up, hat hiding his face, kill a bunch of guys, then disappear.

Then in MKDA he became more of a teacher/leader... and then became a jealous immature whiner.

His MKX design finally brought the mystic back.

Still, I voted for Sareena. While Kung Lao in MKX was much better than his most recent iterations, he served no purpose except following Quan Chi around. Sareena evolved into a secret spy for the Special Forces and that's pretty cool.

Because your 6 reasons for choosing a character aren't the best examples and even if they were they shouldn't all count just as much. For me, personally, the background and storyline are much more interesting than, say, finishers.
+ it's not fair to compare the personality and finishers of a character who had them in 8 games with the ones a character had in only 2 games. But from those 2 games Sareena did actually evolve a personality. Her talk with Kitana in the Netherrealm was much more serious than any talk Kung Lao EVER had.

Not caring doesn't mean that you should add one vote to Kung Lao, Yes, everything on your list is subjective, so you are entitled to believe Sareena's backstory lame, but at least care for it enough to check it out first, then vote.

Is Sareena the new Tremor/Fujin? Whatever, whoever wins is going to lose to Ermac anyway.

I'm interested in seeing Sareena develop more and I didn't think Kung Lao was very good in MKX, but come on. Kung Lao still far more significant.

Tremor Syndrome. Except in Sareena's case, she's not a ninja. But, like Tremor, she's factored into multiple games but never been playable on a legit roster (again, not counting Armageddon and MKDA Gameboy). People will whine and pine for her for the next few years, then she'll make it as DLC for MKXI, and people will hate her and bitch about how lame she is.

Sareena is average at best. Normally I would vote mostly on potential and she would have ticked that box but Sareena has a flaw that I cannot ignore; she is a weak Netherrealm demon who couldn't beat the revenant Kitana in a fight. As far as cameos go, that is really dissappointing even a tie would have sufficed. By comparison Kenshi managed to beat Fujin barely survived
