I recently picked up Damage Plans debut cd, for those who dont know its the new Pantera, just with Dimebag and Vinnie Paul being the only orig members in the band... Music wise this album has a very good metal sound to it (not as good as most of Dimebags material though)... but vocal wise, this is what really drags the album down, the lead singer cant decide what sound he wants... so in turn he sounds like about every popular metal singer u can think of... on tracks like save me and soul bleed he even tries for a Jerry Cantrell sound... the album overall is worth listening to, but Pantera fans dont get ur hopes up to high...

I give it a 3/5

Damn dude, I would have said the EXACT same thing you did! I don't like the singer, it IS dimebag, but it's just not the same.

Some of it is raw, but overall I agree... 3/5

Not bad review. I picked up the album on it's release last month, and yeah its decent but not the best we've heard from the twins (Dimebag and Vinny). Though they do shine over the new singer and bass player they can't hold it up just by themselves. The lead singer goes from an angry Phil Analsmo scream to a softer calmer voice at some oddly random points on the album. He kind of reminds me of the lead singer from Motogrator who seems to have the same vocal style. Damageplan isn't bad, infact it's a pretty good sideproject (Which I know they don't want to be viewed as), but it's no Pantera. At least they're better than Phil's new band Superjoint Ritual, but what the hell happened to Rex?
