Actors/Actresses Who Should Have Won Oscars
I just came across this little image here on Imgur:
and it got me thinking about all the times seemingly deserving performers did not receive their due accolades. So, with that, I've decided to create this thread to showcase the actors and actresses I feel should have won Academy Awards along time ago, and feel free to share your own.
1. Kimberly Elise
Deserving Films:
- John Q
- For Colored Girls
- Diary of A Mad Black Woman
- Set It Off
This woman is one of the greatest actresses I've ever seen in my life. It bothers me that she has yet to even be nominated for an Oscar, let alone win one. Her performances are amazing, and I jump on any movie she's in, because I know she'll do it good.
2. Will Smith
Deserving Films:
- The Pursuit of Happyness
- I Am Legend
- Ali
Will Smith may not bring it home in every movie he's in (unlike Kimberly Elise, imo), but he surely knows how to destroy a role. When he wants to, he can bring about one of the greatest performances ever. I just wish the Academy saw it that way.
3. Johnny Depp
Deserving Films (if not all of them):
- Edward Scissorhands
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Ed Wood
Come on, do I have to say it? This guy has taken more forms than the DMV. He is a brilliant actor who should have won an Oscar decades ago for Edward Scissorhands. Also, it truly bothers me that his performance in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was overlooked by the Academy. I find his role as Willy Wonka to be the greatest performance of his career, and one of the greatest of all time.
4. Seth Green
Deserving Film:
- Party Monster
His role as fashion icon James St. James is a role I find to be one of the most underrated performances I've ever seen. He stole every scene in the film, and truly, he alone was able to bring that film to a great light. Macaulay Culkin's performance was also amazing, but Green definitely took the cake.
5. Imelda Staunton
Deserving Film:
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Is it just me, or was Imelda Staunton's performance as Dolores Umbridge deserving of an Academy Award? One thing I've known since I was a kid is that if an actor/actress is able to make you hate their character, they did a good job. Staunton made me want to punch Umbridge in the face and beat her with a steel cactus. It is such a shame Staunton did not receive a single nomination for her role in the Order of the Phoenix. She deserved them all.

I can't think of actors that don't have one right now, but this scenario immediately comes to mind:
Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a Dream) should have won instead of Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich). The biggest head scratcher in Oscar history imo.
Also Felicity Huffman deserved it over Reese Witherspoon. Reese's performance in Walk the Line is severely overrated.
A quick, off the top of my head list of actors that should have Oscars:
Ed Norton
Viola Davis
Naomi Watts
Joaquin Phoenix (though he wouldn't accept it)
John Hawkes
Leo Dicaprio
Julianne Moore

This! I so would have used the killing curse.
Mick-Lucifer for his "I don't give a damn" facade. I think he gives a lot of damns.
Anywho, Peter Sellars was nominated and lost for Doctor Strange Love and I think that's a travesty. Likewise, William H. Macy was nominated for Fargo but didn't win- a performance I think was deserving of an Oscar.
