Why the hell is MK2 so difficult?

I got all the way up to the last few characters and now all the sudden I cant get one hit in on Mileena. Everything I try to do she either blocks and throws her fucking sais, rolls under it, or counter attacks with that really annoying throw every female has in this game.
I mean you can't trip or upper cut her because she throws you in the middle of the attack, and you can't punch her because even if you start punching before she does, she can just start punching and you'll all the sudden stop punching for no reason and start taking all the damage.
Any advice on how to beat Mileena? It's getting a little frustrating.

Arcade port = programming designed to eat your quarters. Abandon all hope.

Yeah I thought of that. So I changed the difficulty to very easy but it didn't change it much. lol.

This morning I was fighting Sub-Zero. It was pretty far up the ladder and he just kept kicking my ass. Almost everytime I try to uppercut him somehow he throws me. How the fuck does that work?

Same problem here. Also, Mileena is a fucking bitch! I could not get past her.

I find the arcade version difficult. But not every other version. I can beat every other version with no problems.

To beat Mileena, you have to jump towards her and kick as you are jumping up. So basically as you leave the ground your foot is already extended. She will always try to counter by throwing her sais at you in mid air, but you will kick her out of the air first. You literally repeat that for the whole fight. You can double flawless her easily

I've tried that. She always lands a jump kick on me when I do that.

You're too close then, you have to be a little past sweep. I've been using the same strategy on her since 1993.

Raiden was the last person I had to fight before Shang Tsung, Kintaro and Shao Kahn and Raiden was fucking annoying!

If you don't care about being cheap and want an easy win, just pick Baraka and use his Blade of Fury attack just as the CPU gets within Standing P/K-ing distance of you (but not close enough where they can throw you). Just about 9 times out of 10 they're going to get hit with it just as they're about to hit you. Works on EVERYBODY in the game.

I can't believe no one mentioned the single cheapest strategy that I know for beating the early levels in MK2. Just play Baraka, & literally just keep doing the chop chop blades when you're close to your enemy. They literally just walk right into it! & then just keep spamming Blade Sparks, it's guaranteed to work.

Also walk backwards and when they get really close about sweep range, you can bicycle kick them. I beaten Jade and smoke that way too and every character in the game. Never jump backwards or forward and never throw sweeps high in the ladder it always results in a projectile or throw. The CPU can throw sweeps and this was a countermeasure to avoid sweep infinities on the CPU. People beat the CPU in MK1 by sweeping all day so in MK2 they added that broken CPU throw.
Kintaro was so hard and I never beat him on my first try even to this day..... I miss the days of super hard subbosses. For people that are new to MK2, its a treat to share this game with the new generation. Great game.

It's just poor AI programming that does a combination of input reading/reacting, impossible-for-a-player-to-do moves (3 consecutive fans by Kitana in a combo?????), and pattern-based play that practically encourages you to find loopholes in the AI.
Most companies try to make the AI behave as close to a human player as possible. Not the case here...
