SNES,GENESIS,GBA(I consender Mortal Kombat advance to really be well UMK3 just called MKA cause its on the GBA).Or Saturn verison.
IMO it would go like this,Saturn,Genesis,SNES,and finally GBA.

With the exception of brief loading times, the Saturn version is almost arcade-perfect. That's my opinion anyway.

Brief loading times! The loading times in the Saturn version are horrible. Although, the Saturn version has the best conrols for the game.

Once you get used to them they're not so bad.

saturn, snes, then genesis. despite what people say about the snes's gameplay, i still think its better than the genesis version. thats just my opinion tho. plus it had better codes
. i did want the saturn version of umk3, i still might get it too. i kinda got use to the loading times so its ok (trilogy had better loading times tho and i have that on saturn as well)

Saturn UMK3 is far, far, FAR from Arcade perfect. Play Saturn, then play the arcade version, and come back and tell us that again. lol

Honestly, if you have a good way to control it, you're best off just downloading MAME and a UMK3 rom.

). i had to buy a controller. if it wasnt for that i wouldnt even be able to do half the stuff i know (yay for winning a round once in a while against kungbroken a couple of weeks ago) lol. and its all thanks to that controller sitting right in front of me *smiles with anticipation of playing umk3* ahhhh.

I beat MK2KungBroken in one round and I was using a keyboard! Yay.

Keyboard has always worked for me. It's probably because I'm left-handed: I can use the arrow keys to move and the numpad for all the attacks with a layout just like the arcade. Now I feel totally inadequate on a controller! :P

Through my actual study of keyboard converts, as in, used a pad or stick all their life and moved onto keyboard cause of lack of options for getting their preferred pad or stick on their comp, 99% of them improved their game in every instance. The keyboard is simply more accurate, mathematically, which is why I can understand that a lot of people don't like it, it might literally be too much to think about since you can use 3 fingers to control directions, and attacks, rather than a hand, or thumbs.
Even when I play on a stick, I use individual fingers to control movements and I turn my hand many different ways, DreemerNJ might be able to explain it even better from watching me play people, because I know he's commented to me about it.
There are some things I would consider cheating however that are possible on a keyboard that I wouldn't use in a match against someone whom I know is not using a keyboard as well, as in, being able to duck and completely buffer moves that would usually not be possible, for instance, ducking with Sindel and buffering F,F,F HP, no is going to expect her to get a scream from a total ducking position without ever standing up. It is theoretically possible, but way too easy on keyboard for obvious reasons.
This however just increases the level of thinking for both players if they are both on keyboard. Some people use a backwards set up, making the directional arrows up down left right and some random two rows of letters like yui and hjk for their attacks. I find this to be impossible to use since for decades, left side direction, right side action, has dominated the gaming world's console set up. Moving onto Keyboard doesn't require a change in how the brain works on the basic concepts, but there are some slighty more advanced motor skills than on a gamepad by just using a thumb.
In any event, I use to use arcade sticks and gamepads all my gaming life, from 1985 to 1995, and now for almost 10 more years, I've used the KB nearly exclusively. I don't think it has anything to do with what hand you use primarily, but I have never included that in my research. I myself and right handed and I would say that for a game like UMK3, if I were to practice on a stick now enough to get up to what one would consider 100% efficiency based on UMK3 par, and then watch me play on keyboard, you might say on keyboard I play with 150% efficiency.

Well of course the arcade version is the best - it's the definitive version.
There's no doubt that out of all the versions mentioned the Saturn one is the best, however as someone mentioned before the loading times really do suck, so can wait up to 12 seconds per round on the 2 vs 2 option.
Just curious is MKT on PS1 the same juggling as UMK3
arcade? or do the opponents float higher.

There are two versions of MKT for PSX, the first version has lower gravity than the second one. The second is not 100% perfect UMK3 juggling, but they did some math I think and figured out the best way. I would say 99% UMK3 accurate with some speed issues that slight change timing on things, but in no way make things possible that shouldn't be.

i think i might try and learn how to play on a keyboard tho, because pc gamepads suck (this was leading me to alot of jump kicks against matt
)if i could i would use a console controller and i'd be better off. on another note, im getting alittle better with my juggle combos with ermac
lol. hmmm..... let me go practice some more. hehe

Thats why Gamepad adapters for PSX ect. are aviable.
Buy a USB PSX Adapter + Playstation2 gamepad and you have probably the best controll for the MK games (and for the most other games too).
Or if you really want the Arcade feeling and have enough money buy one of these Arcade Sticks for PC, X-Arcade, HotRod ect.

You should be able to tell just from how high they jump and how long they float for in combos, it's so unrealistic. But, to be completely sure, pick Noob Saibot and try this:
HP, HP, LP, HK, teleport slam, walk in, LP, LP, teleport slam. If you can get the teleport slam a second time, it's the broken version.
