I don't get it. If you notice in MK2 it was spelled Rayden, and in now days games it is spelled Raiden. Can someone, please, clarify this up a bit.

His name was originally spelled "Raiden."
When they made the home versions there was some sort of copyright problem because of a another game made by Acclaim called "Raiden" or something like that. So the for the home versions of Mortal Kombat, they changed the spelling to "Rayden."
Now Acclaim no longer makes home versions of Mortal Kombat so they went back to spelling it "Raiden" all the time.

Acclaim did not make "Raiden" - scrolling shooter game. It was created by Seibu Kaihatsu in 1990. If it was Acclaim's production, then it wouldn't be a problem.
Originally, the character was named Raiden indeed, but when MK1 and MK2 came out for SNES and Sega Genesis they couldn't use that name, because of legal battles over the aforementioned shooter game.
Moreover, later there were some legal issues concerning a character from Fatal Fury named Raiden and another Seibu Kaihatsu's game called the "Raiden Project". So they used Rayden instead. However, in the Arcade it was always Raiden, which is the proper spelling.

I prefer Rayden. MK1 on the snes is like the MK I grew up so I sorta felt used to that. Didn't like having to change.
