For the most in-depth, in-detail, Mortal Kombat lore analysis vids, there's only one source:

Try the old Kingdom MK Archive

Some of the sound files should still work, though not all of them

well because im not good with computer related things just yet. i wouldnt know where to begin with mame. i just want the sound files to have fun with and i cant if the music is still going and the timer is counting down and the opponent screams and such. i still havent found sound effects of a punch or kick landing. the collision sounds dont seem to be anywhere. i'd even settle for street fighter sounds and snk sounds as well.

If you can track down MK Trilogy for PC, you can extract all the sounds. There are these big master sound files (with a ".SND" extension) and each one contains a set of sfx. An audio editing program can open the files at the right speed (when it prompts me for settings I choose 16 bit, mono, signed, 11025), and then you can just play through the whole set, find the one you want, and clip it out. The MKT library has a pretty meaty selection of sounds to choose from.

I know Cool Edit Pro works, and also this free program called Goldwave (http://goldwave.com/).
