Noob Saibot---UMK3

posted10/19/2004 02:02 PM (UTC)byKineticI have just read a Noob-Smoke Faq that mentions Noob as being "supposedly" accessible in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and that the way of accessing him was to preform a code while trying to select Kano. Needless to say, I was angered by this. I cannot speak for other platforms, but when I BOUGHT UMK3 for Sega Genesis Noob, Mileena, Ermac, Rain, and Classic Sub-Zero were all accessible. I have read numerous other forums refuting Noob (and Rain's) accessibility before Trilogy! I don't know why they were unlocked in UMK3 when I bought it (from what I've read you have to preform a code to unlock them, at which point they become accessible only because their presence is programed into the cartridge itself, but I was 9 or so at the time I bought the video-game and had no such knowledge of such cheats, and CERTAINLY did not preform them) . Could anyone do me a favor and support my statements, and possible explain to me why they were accessible (and if anyone would like to refute them I'd be glad to prove you wrong...(Just give me time to take my Genesis out of being packed away and hope it works so I can take a picture, which I hope I won't have to do).
thanks
thanks

"have just read a Noob-Smoke Faq that mentions Noob as being "supposedly" accessible in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and that the way of accessing him was to preform a code while trying to select Kano. "
I don't think this is true at all. If it WERE true I'd think it'd be for MK3 since Kano=Noob Saibot (palette swap) in MK3, while in UMK3 Noob=Scorpion (palette swap)
"Needless to say, I was angered by this. I cannot speak for other platforms, but when I BOUGHT UMK3 for Sega Genesis Noob, Mileena, Ermac, Rain, and Classic Sub-Zero were all accessible."
That's cuz UMK3 for genesis/snes was shitty in comparison to the arcade. In the arcade, Ermac, Mileena and Classic Sub-Zero were locked by a special 10-digit code each (Ultimate Kombat Kodes), giving them somewhat more excitement I guess. Rain was not playable or fightable but was merely a cameo in an attract-mode demo movie of sorts. Noob Saibot was only a hidden character in that you could fight him in certain ways (through codes or ending prizes etc) but could not play as him.
" I have read numerous other forums refuting Noob (and Rain's) accessibility before Trilogy!"
No need to doubt them, it's true. They were never playable before MKT and then subsequently UMK3 for Snes/Genesis (which came after). They were just add-ons to what I don't consider OFFICIAL games in the MK line of games (to me it's just Mk1,2,3,UMK3,4,5 and 6 arcade versions only except for 5 and 6). They gave them some bootsy moves (Rain's kinda sucked while Noob's was overpowered). The only other thing was that in special "Wavenet" versions of the UMK3 arcade machine which are really really rare, people could play a basically unfinished version of Noob with just a teleport slam I believe.

Wow you were really young when MK came out.... but um nope no certain codes needed, for the genesis versions they were all already unlocked. They didn't leave anything to specialness for those versions :(

No you don't have to... the explanation is pretty clear. People, like myself, probably don't consider the SNES/Genesis versions of UMK3 to be the TRUE edition.... I only consider the arcade edition the real true edition, and any others that were almost like it (like the Saturn version)

Noob Saibot was playable in UMK3 in the Wavenet edition if you are playing in Wavenet mode. You get a an all black ninja with modified versions of Kano's combos I believe.
In MK3 Noob Saibot is an all black Kano but he is not playable, nor is he playable in standard UMK3 for the arcade.

Yes, Umk3 Wavenet only, and now there are Mame codes to play as Noob in UMK3, he is fully playable, you can beat the game with him, and get Human Smoke's ending, Noob's vs picture, and it says "Kano wins" when the screen comes up. If you enable the code on the selection screen after picking anyone before the vs screen comes up, his vs picture comes up on the vs screen. It's very neat playing Noob Vs Noob online.

to the poster of this thread.....
to make a long story short, rain and noob saibot only appeared in the snes and genesis versions of umk3 because it couldnt be true to the arcade, it was delayed and didnt come out til around the time trilogy came out, and it was a way to compensate for all the stuff they had to take out (like a few stages, animalities, sheeva). they added brutalities in place of the animalities because it didnt take up as much space i assume, because brutalities was originally exclusive to trilogy. if u have anymore questions please dont hesitate to ask
