How do you beat Kintaro on MK2 (Sega Mega Drive)
Use footsweeps a lot. But make sure they're timed, because if you sweep too early you'll get hit by a fireball. Do it so that you hit him with the end of your foot just as he walks into range. He will stagger back and groan. Duck, then repeat.
Jump kicks work sometimes, but don't use them a whole lot, unless they're late jump kicks. Kintaro will most likely block, then grab or punch you. If he does block, you can try to jump away and run the risk of the fireballs. Or try a standing block.
If he leans back, growls, and flexes - uppercut him, projectile him or jump kick and combo him. Just hit him.
Kintaro is easiest to hurt when he jumps towards you. It is easy to spot when he will do it, because he jumps in place first. If you see him do this, be prepared to throw an uppercut or projectile.
If Kintaro spits fireballs at you, duck. And always do your projectile after you knock him down. It will usually hit him unless you are on the far side of the screen.
When he jumps into the sky, get out of the way. The best things to do is jump away and kick. This will usually hit. You could try to uppercut Kintaro as he is coming down, but that's not the easiest thing to do. If you are trapped in the corner, try jumping away from the corner while punching.
After Kintaro jumps on you from the sky, he will always lean back and growl. When he does this you can either walk up and uppercut him, use your projectile or use a jump kick and combo.
This should help you a bit

Which FAQ was that lol.
All you have to do is late jump kick him, with everyone, thats all you have to do. For genesis you can just freeze, uppercut or spear, uppercut him also.

It wasn't just one if you ask
Moreover, I didn't just copy it, but made a few changes and edits. I've posted that guide because personally, I have beaten Kintaro with all characters many times using similiar tactics, so I know they're effective.

Yea, I've added that too if you didn't see. BTW, I wanted to see that late jump kick strategy video, but the site isn't working right now.

no. You will just get punished with a fireball from him before all three of yours even reach him. Just read his movements and counter. If he jumps toward you, knock him down. If he does a fireball, duck. If he does a stomp, do a straight up jump kick. I always walk backwards or duck to keep him too far away to grab.

no. scorpions teleport punch does not work. unless you are playing on very easy, he will simply grab you out of the air without even having to block.
Thanks a lot for your advice guys.
I do employ a lot of those tactics, and did actually win one round against him today haha.
I find his throw the most devastating, as whenever I seem to jump in, he will pluck me out of the air and slam me down.
Is there an opportune moment when jump kicks would work best against kintaro?
I have also found that lobbing crounched fireballs repeatedly is a good way to chip his health away, yet after two, he is on me, or has twatted me from above.
Using Lui Kangs bicycle kick to get the f*ck out of the way helps lol. but gargh, those throws are annoying!

Kintaro is actually really easy. I usually use Kitana:
Tap backwards repeatedly, once Kintaro is in range, do a Fan Lift, followed by a jump kick, fan throw, then land, and start tapping backwards again.
If he shoots a fireball, duck it, then do a regular jump kick, he'll usually get smacked by it.
If he jumps straight into the air to land straight down on you, simply do a hop kick.
I cna beat him flawlessly pretty easily this way.

Yeah, I have just had a go against him again and was getting panned until, with about 3 credits left I started to get my act together and have a proper fight, almost beating him every time. Gah typical though, Game Over.
I did try Kitana, and the fan lift is pretty useful- will have to have another go with her- thanks for the tips people! :)
